I agree, it has been great and we have been great but I used the word successful intentionally because that kind of focuses purely on the end product rather than the journey. I'm not saying it wouldn't be either, I genuinely don't know. It's a bit of a mad one.

God I hope not. The stress will kill me one of these days. 2-0 up in the first 15 mins and Real down to 10 men before half time will do me nicely.
 
Bloody hell what a day. Anfield south truly delivered. Shame Wembley couldn’t organise a wee up in a brewery, the escalators stopped working in the L section yellow. Climbing the stairs to the cheap seats was not fun, didn’t get to my seat till 10 mins before kick off grrr. And not a good day to not to sun tan lotion up :p

Great game, with the chances we had we should buried the game in normal time.

Must say, mendy is a joke, the time wasting was beyond belief.

Looking back at the player ratings this morning Trent is getting rated very highly, he had a shocking second half really, looked was off the pace. Tiago was utter class, even Milner had a fantastic game. Diaz offfff what a player. Honestly so proud to be part of this journey with Klopp, what a time to be a red.

Really? I thought he was excellent throughout. The way our system clashes with Chelsea's, one of the area's we can get exposed at times is fullback with Mount/Pulisic pulling wide and doubling up with James/Alonso but I thought Trent was excellent defensively. There were a couple of times that Chelsea had some joy in wide areas but because of the systems being played, that was always going to be the case.

He probably didn't get forward as much as normal but that didn't stop him from influencing attacks. His passing and ability to create attacks from nearly any position on the pitch is out of this world. He was the highest rated player by Whoscored, producing 4 key passes in the match - to put that into perspective, he only averages 2.7 key passes per match normally, which is the 2nd highest in the PL behind KDB with 2.8. The outside of the foot pass to Diaz was something else. His corners were terrible though.
 
Mane has done much worse lol, yesterday was nothing and happens routinely in games with flailing arms trying to shrug off defenders holding them
 
Its a silly challenge but he's only that high because of the ball. He would win it then Mount moved it under him so he rode the ball.

Id still want a red regardless mind you.

Thats about as red a red as you can get. Jumps two footed off the ground. Only reason he gets away with it is because Mount didn't roll around on the floor and draw attention to it. If the ref looks at that hes gone. One of the worst "tackles" I have seen in a while.
 
He won the ball ref! This is the FA Cup remember, where managers wear suits and men are men. I don't remember this reaction when Vinnie Jones cut Steve McMahon in half - the game's gone!

In all seriousness, I hadn't noticed the challenge at the time. It reminds me of Kuyt on Phil Neville in the famous Clattenburg derby and although it should have been a red, what's saved him (like Kuyt) is he's not gone directly into the player but jumped across the front of the player.

Whats saved him is that the referee either didn't see it properly or didn't want to potentially have a hard decision to make when Mount hadn't made anything of it. The fact he doesn't badly injure Mount there is pure luck. He came very close.

I saw the tackle in the game and was surprised that no one said anything about it at the time.

I agree on the point that the ref didn't want to make a big decision and the fact that Thiago isn't jumping into Mount but across the front of him gave him the wriggle room to not make a decision.

What do you think would have happened if Mount had given it the ol' "4 full rolls on the floor" and the "I'll never recover from this" reaction?

No idea but the ref clearly set his stall out not to dish out cards unless he had to. On another day Thiago is sent off, as is James for his challenge on Thiago.
