The end of CS 1.6?

How is this arguement still going on?

Now i gave up cs in 1.5 i think so it is possible that 1.6 is the best game ever and pleasures u sexually while u play or something.. but in my opinion there is very little difference...

skill is still the most defining factor in the game, if the hitboxes are slightly different you will not instantly become better or worse just because u play a different version... if anything css is harder due to the guns being a bit wilder, yes this might cause more random headshots, but it also causes more random misses.. unlike cs where the m4 had pinpoint accuracy and all other guns where useless in comparison

thats any less realistic than shooting BEHIND a player to kill them?

untill source sorts its hitboxes out... ill stick with 1.6 :p

hit boxes are sorted 2 years ago those videos that u see on youtube is made on private server when u host your self witch they are 33 tick.

Hit boxes don't move much in 100 tick servers. press set launch options on cs:s type 100 tick i think u have to type that im not sure then make your own server which now will be 100 tick now open console type command for hitboxes and u will see they barely move out of position anymore.

Never! I still play 1.6 competatively, still so many people playing it in leagues. Although, to be fair most lans are going CSS. (i34)

cs1.6 wont die, i dont go on it to play for real just the car and fun maps now

css is the way forward.

I don't get how CSS players can hold this in contention... if they were right then CS 1.6 would have evaporated years ago and there would 200k+ players playing CSS right now.

The numbers speak for themselves.

It depends if you look at global numbers, or UK numbers. Globally CS1.6 is far more popular than Source, even now (I think)....but in the UK I'd be very surprised if Source players/servers didn't vastly outnumber 1.6 these days.

1.6 > Source imo. Just for the sheer gameplay and skill aspect.

I agree. Funnily enough though, I probably enjoy playing CS:S more than CS these days. But I got really tired of CS after playing it for years, so prefer to mess around on something that looks a newer/nicer. Neither game holds the same attraction as CS used to for me.

1.6 has died off considereably over the past year though.

Yeah - a few of my old clan mates are still around, but so many players and servers have disappeared in the last year. The activity and community isn't anywhere near what it was.

Overall, though, CS:S numbers dwarf 1.6 numbers these days.

Far from it actually.

Valve have removed their titles from their stats page so I can't prove it now but only recently 1.6 had about 4 times the player base.

1.6 takes skill

:)

CSS is better now then it was (period after beta was amusing) but still lacks the skill element that 1.6 has.

I recently got back into playing 1.6 regularly. Azzy, D2, bit of nuke: Good stuff :)

I tried CS:S when i made the mistake of buying HL:2.

Its was toilet.
It may of changed, but when it first came out, its was appallingly bad.

Well, I used to play 1.6 a lot, but over the last 4 years I just haven't bothered. The thing that bothered me basically was when valve stopped updating it, fixing bugs etc. Then it just became a cheating fest, which totally ruined the game, for me, knowing nothing could be done, especially playing online. Plus, other games that have entered the scene have become more interesting. I found things too repetitive after years of cs 1.6.

CS:Source is great because it is updated more on the anti-cheat front, plus it's quite refreshing, I know the skill might not be the same involved but it is still playable. TF2, is ruling my online gaming at the moment, because it is fun, and can just be played anytime for that 'fun' satifaction. Whereas othertimes in cs 1.6 I became frustrated, with certain bugs, cheaters, and the various arrogance surrounding the scene.

Just my thoughts.

I made the switch to CS:S and I was quite happy with it.

Then a few things happened; I started uni which meant I had less playing time, I was on Wireless so my connection was pants, my computer started screwing up periodically and as a result I had to keep reconfiguring my .cfgs etc.

In the end I got so fed up with it all that I stopped playing. I just play singleplayers now because they don't rely on a net connection or any major effort editing game files just to get the thing running properly.

I think the best version was either 5.2 or 6.1...
