The end of Gamespy...

So is GS arcade going with it?.

That's a shame. Like most people here I've both used and avoided it. On the one hand (for many years) it was basically buggy shareware. On the other, it let you play lots of old bargain bin games online, where otherwise you might not have been able to.

Long live gamespy, and good riddance! :[

I wonder how this will effect borderlands and the like... Hmm

Used it to jump into servers back in my old DoD playing days. A group of us from a couple of fairly well known clans at the time used to frequent the lobby a fair bit and shoot the breeze more than we actually played the game.

I recall Gamespy as an annoying server browser from old games (MOHAA etc) I can't say I ever bothered checking out the website and use alternative server finders for games such as FSX.

I can still hear "Welcome to Gamespy" though! :o

Gone & already more or less, forgotten.

The only thing I can seem to remember about GameSpy is it forcing me to use their Server Client for some old game which I stopped playing and completely forgot about due to being forced to use GameSpy... So good riddance and far too long overdue!

+1!

This site annoyed the hell out of me because of this reason.

The original GameSpy server browser was good.

GameSpy arcade sucked.

Integrated GameSpy in games (Hi2U borderlands) was the biggest load of tosh ever to be incarnated in the gaming world.

Won't be missed by me.

Out of interest what review sites do people use then, had a quick peek back at megagames.com - used to get all my cheats and patches from there back in the day..

Giantbomb. These guys do such an amazing job. The weekly podcast is funny and informative, they do loads of videos on their website with quick looks and reviews. They cover pretty much most games. The guys all know their stuff, they all have slightly different interests so you get a broad range, the live videos they do for premium members are amusing. Highly recommend them.
