I think you're completely missing the point.
You wouldn't know it isn't real, it would be a like for like reality in your perfect image, love is just the invention of man, giving a number of emotions a name.
If you feel that in the fake world, it is exactly as real as it is in the real world.

Yea but you would know before stepping into the machine it was not real, i myself would not feel comfortable knowing even for a split second before the machine takes over that i was about to spend my life in it!

On a second note for us to program it ourselves is not such a cracking idea...
Jeeez i dont even read flat pack instructions and i thought my coffee machine was a time travelling device at one point... god knows what sort of world id mock up for myself just clicking buttons haha!

How about a 'virtual reality' that also contains an 'experience machine'..? And why can't the virtual world include a note to yourself to overcome the loss of memory? But then would you believe it?

If I could create something that could benefit the world by using it and this knowledge could be passed on to people outside the machine then yes, I would do it. I guess the best thing to do at first is to invent a way to survive the machine
