The FA CUP Fourth Round ** Spoilers ** [27th - 29th January 2017]

Clearly I'd given mourinho too much credit before this season. He's shown he's a terrible judge of players. If it cones to him or martial and Shaw then we should be firing him tomorrow. We should be building a team around them not sacrificing them to the media at every opportunity

I think that's really wide of the mark and JM is not really one for pandering to the media.

Shaw apart from the few weeks before his inury has been too inconsistent.

Martial when given the chance has been fairly hit and miss under JM which has coincided with him splitting up with his missus.

The media have been purring this week about Miki yet JM dropped him in October and look how he has come back.

Time and time again Mourinho's personal biases towards players have harmed us this season. First the crap with Mkhitaryan, the constant berating of Shaw, now it's Martial. His treatment of Schweinsteiger who is far, far better than Fellaini and could have been a useful player for us this season. His baffling constant defense of Fellaini like he's his son or something. He's got us playing better football but if it costs us some of our best players then it's not worth it.

It's not a case of judging players but a case of what Mourinho expects from players in certain positions.

Mourinho fullbacks are defenders first and formost. Look at his fullbacks at Chelsea, his RB was a CB and his LB was a RB. He picked them in those positions because a right footed player on the left will naturally cover his CB and will naturally find it hard to go forward. Luke Shaw isn't a great defender, he might become a great offensive fullback but the defensive side of his game is his weakness.

It's the same with his wingers/forwards. Mourinho's ideal winger is Willian - somebody that runs himself into the ground, helping to defend and attack. Martial's a striker that's been moved wide - he's not going to naturally track back and you'd question whether he's got the attitude to change that side of his game.

Which is why his first choice right back is a winger who spends more time in the other half...

There isn't anyone like that at United though, all our wide players are more attacking than defending (and have to be to cover the likes of Rooney) I think Martial is fine defensively, he's certainly better than Rooney and Rashford who have both been caught out multiple times this season not tracking back. And his beloved Fellaini never tracks back when we lose the ball. First half today when Wigan almost scored it was Mata running back to make a challenge, Fellaini was jogging back.

it's the clear bias and favouritism. It's sickening to see from a manager and it will cost us.

Lol he's even desperately backpedaling over Schweinsteiger now. Didn't he say he'd rather play the academy players than give him a chance?

"Basti may be a surprise for some as we made that decision not to have him in the squad for a couple of months. Since the moment he's been back with the team, he's fighting also for his chances with so many matches as we have now. We've the postponed match [at Manchester City] because of the EFL Cup final, the Europa League and the fact that Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay left the club.

"The squad is shorter and we need him. Today is an opportunity for him to play and show that he is ready - even for the Premier League."

Your only alternative to Valencia is Darmian though and he's playing LB. Disagree that Martial does more defensively than Rashford too.

As for Fellaini, I told you so again. Where possible Mourinho loves having as many physical players in his teams - it gives him greater threat at set-plays, the ability to go long when you need to and of course defensively, when you're defending set-plays or against direct teams. He might not play every game but he's a player Mourinho will want up his sleeve.

Except for the start of the season Darmian wasn't playing at left back, he wasn't playing at all. So surely he would have been chosen over Valencia? He could quite easily play Darmian right and one of Rojo or Blind left. Or have signed more defensive full backs.

Surely at Real Madrid he had the likes of Marcelo and Coentrao who are incredibly attacking full backs?

Real Madrid is the exception to the rule. It's the same with his centre forwards - he's always played with a target man, except at Real. Real dominated every team in the league bar Barca, he's never had that luxury at any other side so has never been as expressive.

Re Darmian, fair point but he's useless too so it's a case of the tallest dwarf here. It's not simply about being defensive but players that are able to do the job he wants and by that I mean players that understand, follow and stick to game plans. He's not a manager that tells his players to express themselves, he's no better than Van Gaal in that respect.
