Lua Lua, WTF was that? Man free in the box and he tries to beat everyone rather than play the through ball then a man out wide no more than 5 meters away from him and he kicks it in the wrong direction :o

This is one thing I like about AVB that really annoyed me about 'Arry. He played a weak team in a vital Europa league game which we lost which basically knocked us out.

bale did miss the last game through a ban so a short run out may do him good. hopefully we put the game to bed early and then rest key players.

Necastle need 2 strikers, maybe 3 and desparately need to sell both Ameobi's and Ranger, the former are epically awful and the later is a **** as well as being rubbish.

Not even remotely surprising they lost putting out a terrible team with just zero quality upfront, though worrying that Pardew can't seem to think on his feet. Leaving Obertan on and pushing either Marveaux or Obertan upfront would have been significantly more effective than leaving Ranger upfront on his own. Its not a bad thing though, Europe is already hurting the team badly, more games was the last thing they needed.

They really do need some real strikers though, their backup strikerforce is all completely abysmal, not a freaking clue how any of them are professional footballers let alone get the wage of premier league footballers.

feel a bit sorry for the newcastle fans who made the 700 mile round trip for this. they've been rubbish.

We need defenders mainly another striker after that but defenders and CM's.

Also, Crawley beating Reading makes me feel a little better :p

AVB is clever, he's balanced the team by resting players, but can also switch them out for the ones that haven't been rested, so both get little runs, they keep match fitness and will probably have enough power in both halves to see it out. This is how you're meant to run a team when competing on multiple fronts. Same way Benitez has with his Chelsea squad picked. It's sensible.

You can't do daft things like Pardew has done, you get a balance, you don't throw in a completely second string team, it doesn't balance well with an opposition that are fired up purely because they are playing a premier league team. He underestimated cup factor, stupid mistake.
