The FA CUP Third Round ** Spoilers ** [2nd - 6th January 2015]

Wimbledon have done themselves proud tonight.

So true. Proper old school FA Cup match that, the only thing missing was the pitch ending up as a mud bath and the camera(s) being obscured by pillars. Just a shame AFC Wimbledon didn't unceremoniously dump Liverpool out of the cup though, that would've made my day.

I think that was a bit of a culture shock for some of our players. From the first whistle Wimbledon players were leaving their foot in at every tackle and making sure they roughed us up - helped by the refs willingness to allow them to. That said we actually started the game pretty well and it was only after we scored that we seemed to completely stop playing and allowed them back into the game.

As the game went on it was clear that we were going to run out winners though. They looked spent 10 minutes into the 2nd half and it was much easier for us, with just our inability to finish keeping them in the game.

I mentioned this after a previous game but I don't know what Rodgers is thinking playing Coutinho off Lambert. It's the oddest of odd couples. Coutinho loves a through ball and Lambert can't run (which makes it amazing how often he gets caught offside). And Lambert's biggest strength is his lay-offs and flick ons, and Coutinho doesn't make the runs to feed off them. If Lambert's going to play up front on his own then we've got to have runners in attacking positions who can run off him. We'd have been far better off switching Henderson with Coutinho today and allowing Coutinho to pull the strings in midfield (which we lacked) and Henderson to make the forward runs off Lambert (which we also lacked).

So, first Rodgers got rid of Suarez.
Now he has got rid of Gerrard.
I'm not a LFC fan, but I'd be gutted to see Gerrard leaving.
What do LFC fans think of that decision?

EDIT: If Madrid came calling, would he also sell Sterlilng, I wonder?

So Fergie got rid of Ronaldo did he?

If Real/Barca comes calling most players end up going there whether the team likes it or not. It's not getting rid of players which I'm sure you know. Until the clubs actually have more power to keep hold of players then it's the players that dictate whether they stay or not.

I think you would be hard pushed to find a united player that would stay if Madrid pitched up with a 70m offer in the summer.

I don't think Ronaldo was ever quiet about wanting to go to RM, and SAF actually squeezed one more season in England before he left - but it does depend a huge amount on the length existing on the current contract. Anything under 18months - 2 years and the power quickly comes over to the player

Looking at their midfield options - Im not sure who would choose to go there at the moment

Defenders - Varane isn't getting a look in even though he is incredibly highly thought of already

If you are a striker would you want to play second fiddle to Ronaldo and to a lesser extent Bale (given the ego's most strikers want / need to have)?

The only (worrying) possibility is gk - due to the length of his contract De Gea would go for £30m absolute max (1 year left), hopefully an extension is going to be signed sharpish (I think/hope the player actually wants to stay) but you never know.

Wake me up when we lose. Barry must have something in his contract.
