This is a joke right? I am sure the Iranians would have put this muppet up to stirring things up. The stupid thing is that the Argies have never inhabited the islands anyway. I wonder if its to do with the oil they have found there? And I would expect no help from the Yanks again as they will have their eyes on the oil as well and would like to swoop in and grab what they can from the fallout.

Tbh when 80% of the world thinks we should back down and enter negotiations with the Argies, we're only making ourselves look bad by not doing so.

Why would we enter negotiations about a territory that has been British longer than the current Argentine constitution has even existed? Tell me exactly how their claim on the islands is greater than ours - or even equal to ours.

Sooner or later if we don't give it up it will be taken by force. The UK is pretty much at its peak power and development, whereas the South American countries can only become stronger over time.

Hehe.

Someone I work with has just received notice for a posting to the falkland islands in July this year. His first thoughts were that it would be a quiet tour at least, now I don't think he's so sure :p

Venezuela's navy is tiny!

Sounds like Chavez is just trying to play up to the idea of "south american pride", coincidental that 2012 is an election year! Venezuela is basically as far away from the Falklands as a South American country can be. It's all bluster.

Don't get lost in your own argument. "South American Countries" are not interested in using force unless you count the Bell-end that is Chavez.

Do you think the US will enter negotiations with the Mexicans over California?

well obviously the Falkland islands and California are identical in all but name

He's quoted as saying they would fight alongside Argentina if Britain attacked. What would he do if Argentina attacked?
