Of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum - on a turnout of more than 90% - 1,513 were in favour, while just three votes were against.
and i guess having the best subs and destroyers mean we have no navy now.
I suspect the 3 no vote people were pre-decided given that they were concerned that a 100% majority would look suspiciously like it was rigged.
Why cant we just be interesting and spontaneous by allowing them to develop on the island?
I dont just mean signing anything over, but a sort of cultural midway.
Just saying no over and over is just boring, while it might be slightly funny to see the Argentines get bothered every time they need to ignore their economic problems.
The islands have sketchy history dating too far back to really know unbiased truth in the matter, so i see no problem in trying to solve the issue in a productive way.
This ends any image of colonial behaviour by Britain and gives the Argentines nothing else to talk about.
I dont particularly know how to detail what i mean, but a general idea is to have a more approriate influence in South America, by simply allowing ourselves a distant neighbour...also to frankly make the place a little less dull, honestly...i dont really care for the islands, needs a little latin colour in my humble opinion.
I realise it will likely never happen (perhaps a tad silly in some respects), but just putting it on the table and stuff.
To be fair, that applies to the UK these days too. No carriers or Harriers this time to defend the islands. Both sides will be throwing stones!

We have one ship that could blow the entire Argentina airforce out of the sky at one press of a button.
Unless they were over the horizon of its radar then it would not even see them ...
Some Argies live on the island, it was mentioned in one of the recent BBC videos about the voting.
It's Radar has a 400km range, it's not an issue.

Well no, it has a 400km range for an aircraft flying at like 40K feet, range for low level aircraft will be much lower.
But on the other hand, hardly any of Argentina's air force is airworthy and pretty much all their ordinance is time expired.
And even they, when asked said they did not want to be under Argentine rule...the few holdouts it is thought are actually hardline independence supporters who want the Falklands to govern themselves under their own sovereignty.
The real threat is another aircraft launched Exocet (if they have any left which will fire). From memory the Type 45 radar has a horizon cut-off limit of 20km given a 25 - 30m radar tower height and the missile at sea height, the Exocet has a range of around 50km, I’d expect the ship could pick up the launch aircraft before the missile was fired.
