The Fire Service

It's very hard to get in at the moment because my brigade, Strathclyde, are predominantly recruiting from other brigades and the retained service. Splodge is wrong. The retained have a good degree of training and get a step up on the recruitment process, almost all the way to final interview.

Keep trying, it's a great job although the pension nonsense that the Tories are embarked upon is playing havok with morale. 'Pay the most, cheers, now pay more.'

Splodge is right when speaking about the brigade he works for...

I thought coppers paid the most, or at least they were equal (old schemes)

Pretty sure that coppers are paying more than fire service on the new schemes

Only because we had an agreement with the Tories that an independent body would check to see if the Fire Service Pension Fund was self-sufficient (which it is) and the Tories agreed to abide by the findings. Now they have reneged on that and we are facing paying 15% of our wage into a pension where we get no benefit from the extra that is paid in because it is all going to the treasury.
