US: The Following

I agree, this show is getting beyond ridiculous now, it's actually quite annoying to watch. There are so many moments of stupidity from villains and police/FBI alike that it is extremely difficult to give the show any credibility. It all smacks of lazy writing; they expect us to believe that anything that is happening is plausible, and for us to gloss over the idiocy of the characters. I'll give this another episode or two then I'm going to stop watching it. I'd be very surprised if it gets picked up for another season.

Still really enjoying it here, what are we up to now Episode 5? Episode 4 was a bit of a bore with nothing much happening but Episode 5 pulled it back for me.

Just watched the pilot

Crap.

The FBI agents are all retards...Its overly gory, The script is awful and the flashbacks are terrible.

Just seen the latest episode, I'm now giving this show up, it just continues to amaze me how stupid they think we are.

So in this episode, the police, FBI and SWAT have supposedly got the building surrounded. It seems the writers definition of surrounded is having two FBI personnel in the woods miles from the back door while literally everyone else is round the front of the house. It also annoys me that the law enforcement personnel in this show are constantly outwitted and outfoxed by a (small) group of serial killers, It's so insanely unrealistic that I just can't pretend to ignore it. The writers are just lazy idiots who clearly think we the audience are all stupid and will believe anything they write.

Just watched myself and came straight here to post. Show is a load of cobblers. I will keep watching purely to see how much more ridiculous it will get.

I reckon:

It will wind up with the President being in on it and being one of Joe's followers :D

Heh, new episode followed the trend, alllll the way downhill from the pilot.

Not only did they fail to surround the farmhouse. The best bit was when SWAT showed up at that warehouse where Claire was being held. Cue, the weirdest sequence yet, the perp takes off. They 'pursue' 5 feet to a small door, peek through and say "He's gone sir!" What? You gave up already? Building not surrounded? Oh for god's sake!

Have to agree with the last few posts the show really is getting worse with every episode, i thought it had potential after the premier but now it has me cringing. God knows how it's managed to get an 8.2 on IMDb.

It's reminding me of the last few seasons of Prison Break, where things just got more and more absurd and the writers just didn't know when to stop.

Last night's episode (on Sky) was utterly dreadful, I can't take this show seriously any more. If I was one of those FBI agents, I think I'd just shoot everyone around me (because they're probably all involved somehow) and move abroad.

Yeah, I was not sure at the start, but decided to give it a go. It really does get worse and worse. It is terrible. The flashbacks are confusing at best, and some are pointless.
It looks like them having Kevin Bacon in the farmhouse means they cannot employ enough extras to even pretend to surround the farmhouse.

"We have helicaopters on standby", but will not use them, nor will we use the thermal cameras that would be one them, the nightsuns, in fact, why not just pretend all the police officers have never seen a death, and just cry all the time.

Renewed for Season 2, as Fox were going off early ratings.

http://tvline.com/2013/03/04/fox-the-following-renewed-season-2/

In announcing The Following‘s renewal — for the same 15-episode count as its maiden run — Fox president Kevin Reilly said, “From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding.
Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue for another season.

Not sure if I've been watching the same show.
