A nice little documentary has been repeated and is on iplayer again:

The Forme of Cury(*) is the oldest known extant English cookbook, written around 1390. In the documentary, Clarissa Dickson Wright cooks three dishes from it and gives a little historical background.

* In modern English, 'The method of cooking".

Gotta say, whenever I see a cookery show with her (or the other one) in, it makes me feel sick seeing her fat sausage fingers handling the nice food.

If you're tempted by any of them a small selection of them are available in the John Rylands Library Cafe on Deansgate in Manchester, where a (the?) copy of the book is kept.
