The future of CoD?

In all honesty I don't see me bothering with another one for a few years. Each year I play it less and less even if I prefer the version.

Personally I'd like to see it go pay monthly. It will get rid of the kids for one and should pay for dedicated servers.

Also when you get a crappy **** up like the ps3 version you can vote with your monthly sub. You can bet if they get paid by the month they wouldn't take long to fix games.

Whose doing the next one?

If it's IW expect them to bring out more of the same and dump it after a week. Spec ops was amazing and they did nothing with it. I'd love to have more of that.

So basically I'd like a single player disc for £25-30 and a multiplayer disc for the cost of delivery and a pay monthly fee :)

Well the actual future will be decided upon in court, when West and Zampella (former heads of infinity ward) go against Activision over the creative rights to the modern warfare series. If Activision lose then it is possible that there could be no MW3 or at least not one published by Activision. It could be made by West/Zampella's new studio who are in partnership with EA. If that should happen then Treyarch would most likely be the only studio working on CoD titles, apart from the Modern Warfare series, for Activision, while Infinity Ward closes and that staff join West and Zampella over at their studio and take Modern Warfare over to EA possiblely dropping the Call of Duty title from the game name.

They're already making a game (West/Zampella) using the MW2 engine, or so i've read. Good point though, totally forgot about the lawsuit as it's not been brought up recently.

The battle is for the intellectual property the entire call of duty engine originally created by IW. I'm assuming that if Activision lose (as it is them filing for it well not so much filing for that but trying to find a way to stop Respawn making anything resembling a FPS along the lines of COD basically stating that whatever they could come up with would damage Activision in some way tbh the case is a load of BS from Activision) and Respawn win or whatever happens if it's in their favour then Treyarch are out of the call of duty world as they are actually using the IW engine.

It's a strange case as no one is filling for rights to the franchise AFAIK but the BS case put up by Activision could backfire on them.

I really do hope that Activision lose out this time, they really do disgust me with some of the things they've done. I can appreciate every business has to be profitable and make money but they way they've absolutely raped certain franchises to death is just sad. Especially in the case of the Tony Hawk's games. The first three were simply amazing games imo and then it just started going massively downhill.

I read some info on it a month ago and tbh the case just doesn't make much sense I think Activision are merely dipping there giant toe in to see what happens instead of just putting a case in to stop them mirroring the engine/etc. If they lost with a case like that they could kiss goodbye for good to there money spinner whereas as it stands its so grey no body seems to know what the hell is going on.

read that

apparently there were secret plans going on and EA were involved from the start and so on pure BS from Activision they should cut to the chase and just put the stop on Respawn making FPS games.

It's all Activisions bad decisions and "spilt milk" as they say, I think IW knew how much Activision needed them and I'm guessing they asked for the reigns to be slackened a bit which didn't happen then all of this happens.

On one hand it's a shame it had to happen as I think COD8 will be by IW standards **** poor in comparison to what it could have been, but then on the other hand on the horizon is whatever Respawn come up with BUT I'm also of the thinking that if COD was IW best idea and with so many years of just travelling that single root behind them how could they possibly stop and just go in another direction sucessfully.

Pretty much how I feel about the game.
I like black ops but i'm bored of it really. It's not that the game is bad,it's just the same as COD has been since COD4 came out. Only with a few new additions.
I won't get this years installment as there are more games out i'd rather play(namely gears 3 and uncharted 3).
If they did a pay monthly game, where you don't pay any money up front and only pay a month at a time then i'd be interested. Only because if I wanted something to play til a new game came out I could just pay for a month.

is there any development talent left at IW to make a new COD game

have they hired replacements for all the people that left ?
