Dedicated servers should be the next step....end of topic!
Kinda strange because I was playing Black Ops earlier, and thinking how much more enjoyable I found CoD4 and MW2's multiplayer. Then I wondered if it was even worth picking up a cheap copy of MW2 if they were just gonna release yet another CoD game this winter. Seems like if that reliable source is anything to go by I might as well just pick up MW2.
I think they should stop for a while and try and innovate for a change.
I hope that we don't end up with Treyarch making CoD games and Zampella & West just making "Modern Warfare"
A proper Vietnam FPS
OK I know there is the BF series that has touched this recently and in the past... plus some other failed games (As such) but a real nitty gritty FPS in Vietnam would be good.
Perk wise you have Hueys, Napalm, Mortars... the basic stuff which has been tried and tested and you dont get anything silly like cars driving around.
WW2 has been done to death, Modern Warfare as such has no where else to go.... yet Vietnam has HUGE potential, mapwise.... jungles, rivers.. (i mean gunboats could be a perk)... you dont need vehicles in the game, some of the maps could have awesome tunnel systems... paddy fields.... hamburger hills....
Alongside this they also need to push the network limits 64 v 64 should be do able, especially PC and PS3 (not sure if XBOX has done this before?).
I know it will never happen, but i wish some decent FPS company outside of the BF series where vehicles play a huge role.... gets stuck into Vietnam.
Vietnam also needs a COH style RTS but thats another story![]()
I only played CoD for the first time ever couple of months ago, and I have to say im surprised its so popular.
Coming from a CounterStrike background, I dont think its anywhere near as good, requires hardly any skill, just a lot of spraying. Maybe because its on a console, never played CoD on a PC, is it a lot better?

Well, that's certainly an interesting twist.
The primary responsibility of the gameplay engineer role at Sledgehammer is to partner with a pod and drive gameplay systems and the level experience. The candidate is responsible for ensuring Sledgehammer Games delivers a 95+ rated Call of Duty game meeting the high expectations of gamers today. The candidate will utilize a scripting language and C/C++. The Gameplay Engineer will be working hand-in-hand with a designer to prototype, iterate, and execute, on the level experience. Additionally, the Gameplay engineer is expected to be a technical lead for their pod policing: frame rate, memory, content usage, risk assessment, bugs, mechanics, etc. Qualified candidates need to be a self-starter, able to operate in a highly dynamic environment, and have concise execution during times of high stress. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a solid technical background, a passion for the gaming industry and enjoys working with a powerful engineering team. This position reports into the Engineering Project Manager and will interact directly with all disciplines of the development team.
