The Future Of Need For Speed

hmmmm i know the name NFS has ran out of steam however if the game is great it would not matter what it was called right. ppl would play and pass the word on. besides it is something new, realistic racer no cops boyracers neons etc

yes but there is better game developers out there that do a better job at the realism part and if their Race Pro game was anything to go by then forget it. N4S series whether you like it or not actually held a pretty decent part of that market on current consoles and will be sadly missed, they just needed to spend abit more time on it than their usual yearly rushed to market update to fix framerate problems in general.

Underground 2 was definately the best...
They went No Swearing! after Most wanted.
However undercover's supposed to be good, haven't played it myself.

What does Race pro have to do with this?

That looks stunning... I just hope they've put as much work into the driving physics as the graphics this time round, but fingers crossed.

Remember when this was supposed to be released on the 360,

The team behind 'Shift', 'Slightly Mad Studios' under their former name Blimey Games formed the core development team for GT Legends and GTR 2 together with SimBin Studios (you'll notice their name on the box art), I have a good feeling this is going to be 'GTR' but tweaked and re-skinned as a NFS game, if that is the case this could be awesome, either way though these are some pretty good devs working on this game and I am confident that this should be a good game, you'll just need to look past the branding.

Yeah should be good, im still thinking PGR style gameplay with maybe just a hint more simness.

Looking at the videos, do they have a new type camera movement in the cockpit view that simulates G-Force or head movement, think i noticed that earlier or is it just me.

The best NFS was III, and Porsche Challenge. I remember first playing NFSIII on my PC, the camera did a sweep around of a Lamborghini Countach, showing the reflective surfaces (something Id not seen before) along with the awesome sound track, damn that was

yeah they talked about g movements in the car in a earlier vid, specially when you crash. the one i noticed fast was how the camera went back and forth in cockpit view due to accel and braking or changing gear. been following this game for quite a while .....just hoping it turns out nice

GRID / PGR combined perhaps

Looks fast, fun racing and tbh id rather it didnt try to emulate Forza or GT.

to be honest i would like it to be like or better than forza or gt. mainly because of 1 reason, its available on the pc, no more half decentish console graphics, if modders can do what they did with rfactor and others to shift, with those graphics man that would be awesome in my opinion.

if it turns out soft im sure i'll still have fun. tdu was awesome fun and that was unsim like, and that clip in one of the trailers of the car doing some speed down the straight going inbetween cars and the barrier...cockpit view...woah it was tense just watching it never mind doing it

check this, i taxed it from gtplanet

(in regards to the vids)
According to what I've read, when the journalist on hand preview was held, the game was set to the easiest setting (all assist on and racing line on) but if you look carefully and then compare the video to that of GRID and then GTR2, SHIFT seemed closer to the latter rather than the former. And here's quote from one of the guys at the EA preview day:

“…I got to drive around a beautifully modelled Road America track in a high performance sports car, yet found it to be a perfectly achievable. While a fan of racers like PGR and Forza, I’m by no means an expert, so for a moment it seemed as though I’d found our true calling in life as a race car driver. EA was quick to point out, however, that the car had been set up with all assists on, a massive breaking and racing line visual aid was painted on the track and that in fact this was the easiest the game could be. It was good news though really, seeing as a sim shouldn’t be easy. With all the aids on the game will still be a tricky proposition for novices, but with them off even the most hardcore sim fans will find a game that won’t be easily mastered.”

I will look forward to this, much more than "SuperCar Challenge" which if anything i feel it wont be that great, flawed just like Ferrari Challenge was.
