Hey there peeps, i have just purchased a new gaming rig that is an:
i5 2500K overclocked to 4.7GHZ (INTEL SANDYBRIDGE)
650W PSU
GIGABYTE Z77-D3H (New Z77 Chipset)
Seagate 2TB hard drive, sata 2, 3GB
AMD Radeon HD6670 2GB Graphics
AEROCOOL Strike-X One Case
PATRIOT VIPER V3 RED 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz - Performance/Gaming RAM
HITACHI BLU-RAY COMBO Drive, Blu-Ray Reader & DVDRW In One

The total price of all of these items where £550
I have owned the system for about three days now and are already planning for future things to do to the system, here are some pictures of what i have already done to the case:

So after thinking about it i am going to upgrade the system's:

(everything im buying will come from overclockers)

graphics:

Also i am going to be upgrading the PSU:

= £100

Then i will be upgrading the case:

I will also be buying extra RAM:

Finally, for the new case i thought about the sound aswell as the looks:

Also x 6

So the total price for all of this is = £440, after seeing this i knew that i could go a little bit more, to around £650, so i decided that if i was going to be running this system with all of the items above included i needed decent / amazing cooling, nothing to expensive but still good, so i decided to choose a large shopping list from overclockers:

block

the total price for all of the water cooling was just under £200, so with all of the items above added up it came up to around £640.

tell us what you think, what you would change and what you like.

cheers peeps

Looks like your on the right track but dont get a 1gb card, you can get the MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC 2048MB for £150 and it has 3 years warranty.

Also if you are running at 4.7ghz check your temps as that cpu cooler/fan setup doesnt look as though it will take it.

Id also be tempted to go for a Corsair PSU instead of an XFX one ....some thing like the Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750M would be good, dont get hung over by Watts as 750w is more than enough for what you need ....quality over quantity.

I second the card, it's really good, plays all games I've thrown at it. It's also a decent overclocker from what I've heard, since you're going down the water cooling route it's probably a good idea and fairly safe.

mornin peeps, so im going to have a look at the graphics card and the PSU, would you peeps reccomend cooling the graphics and what about the ram, becouse i might be changing to 32GB instead of only 16GB, watercooled ect, apart from that i think its all good, if you spot any problems with the conpatibility then please tell me becouse i dont like to make mistakes.
thanks peeps

If it was me for now id just replace the PSU, Graphics card and get a decent CPU cooler .....Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E CPU Cooler would be good.

Also ditch all the 80mm case fans and get some decent 120mm ones in there, id also put a decent fan controller in there ...BitFenix Recon Internet-Connected Fan Controller .Better cooling and less noise.

In your sig your saying that the temps are 20.C ?, thats very very low, use RealTemp (google it) to measure your temp but we mainly measure temps under load using a programe like Prime95, Prime95 will also show if your system is stable under load if run for a long time (some run it over night to test).

Water cooling is good but for now id stick with a decent air cooler and get the rest of your system up to spec.

You would be better off spending the extra on a SSD ..Samsung 128GB SSD 830 adn putting your opperating system and main games on that and use the 2GB harddrive for every thing else.

I see what you mean Attu90 i could get a SSD i suppose, i am hoping to have around £800 - £1000 in the next four to five months, so really i could do ALL of it :P, i really do feel that watercooling is necessery (not just becouse it looks good!).
thanks

jake

Real watercooling like your looking at works great but do you honestly feel confident at the moment that you could fit it and test it correctly, if so great but you would be better off poping into the watercooling forum and asking them to spec you a watercooling system for the money youve got.

that xfx psu is made by seasonic stick with it because for the money its the best you will buy

dont you have to send corsair units back to holand at your cost?

Only if you buy from a retailer who doesn't think the SOGA is law. Point of contact should be the retailer if something goes wrong, not the manufacturer.

I've yet to find a decent PSU maker offers good value, quality and a UK RMA centre though.

going through the retailer only adds time to the RMA procedure

if you go enermax/seasonic/antec you cant go wrong plus the chances of failure are very slim and the one you picked is made by seasonic underneath.

Not sure who make corsair psu's

Not always, depends entirely on the retailer in my experience and the age of the unit. I've had good and bad experiences, same with going direct to the manufacturer.

The OEM used varies hugely within each manufacturers range and Seasonic units are not infallible.

Corsair use some Seasonic and some other OEMs, just like almost every other manufacture selling PSUs.

ok peeps, im going to stick with the corsair PSU becouse it is a well known brand and they have a large amount of reviews.
As for the watercooling, can anyone suggest a good system build (all from overclockers), i dont want anything over £275, this should include:

Round water tank
Decent pump
1155 CPU block
Clear tubing
2 Fan radiator
Decent compresion fittings
Blue UV non conductable liquid

I think that that is all that i am after, i know that if i buy all of these items then i will deffinatly come back here to OC for advice and tips when it comes to fitting the system.
cheers
