I loved rome total war but the AI was terrible at times, i once beat an army of 1800-2000 with about 30-40 generals body guards.

ran from one side of map to the other with horses as te huge army chased me, then eventually foot soldiers were exhausted while my horses still fresh. then just slammed them into the flanks and watched as each time the unit end of the flank retreated almost instantly.

I care about the battle and the history, but ffs this crappy Cataphract charge against spearmen is absolute crap. Why you think this is anything to do with history I don't know. The OP is either very young or retarded.

Edit: and where the other 6500 hoplites and the narrow pass of Thermopylae are I don't know...

decent, but your opponent wasn't very smart

I remember having problems getting units to do what I wanted, pretty much instafail for a strategy game.
