Just noticed that the entire of the GTA collection is on Steam for a measly £19.99. I used to love this, but after Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories I went off it a bit as I got more in love with football.

I remember sitting in my room with my 2 brothers playing this game, the mindless violence was easily the best bit of the game.

So yeah, general GTA talk here!

peaked at vice city , was okay at san andreas

went downhill from there :P GTA4 is overrated and the engine is horrible imo

Gets me everytime. Original was just fantastic, 2 was also good. Every other GTA after that is basically a graphics update of the original.

The first two are freeware anyway, GTA3 is ancient. VC is awesome, not sure I'd want to play it again now though. Never played SA

I picked up GTA4 and EFLC for a fiver a while back

I do think that GTA4 is slightly overrated, but it still an excellent game, especially considering the size of it. My problems with it weren't so much with the engine as the structure of the game and the repetitiveness of the missions.

I thought that San Andreas was the best of them by a mile. The first 3 of the modern games(3, vice city, san Andreas) do improve progressively imo.

I remember first putting 3 in my console, (I think my older brother had it for his birthday) and thinking it was absolutely amazing. I don't tend to get the feeling anymore when playing a game.

GTA 3 certainly was the game that made the biggest impression on me but is outdated and feels limiting today as does Vice City to an extent, I just couldn't get back into recently.

San Andreas was the best for me as I just loved the vast expanses, grabbing a bike or a car and just driving along. I enjoyed GTA IV as well but a mixture of technical difficulties and lack of said open expanses doesn't offer as much scope as SA. Still good and graphics are damn impressive in places.

Area 69 is one of my favourite gaming moments ever. Finally doing it and flying out the top was brilliant, plus the mission in Libery City.

Oh and James Woods was brilliant in it

I think the story of gta3 i prefer overall. The gameplay of SA wasnt great i.e the eating and all them stat things but the map and rest of it was the best. Vice had the cool factor. Gta 4 and 4.5 were ok but even tho i can run it at a decent enough speed now i still dont really feel i want to play it. Mainly because while the world is ok i guess i just loath the walk and run animations they are so clumsy imo especially if u wana stop and go the other way, it just drives me nuts trying to play it. Also the lack of AA is a issue sometimes even tho their is a mod to add it, it requires a early version which i cba to revert to.

Really hope they dont do another gta 4 i.e that engine but go back to the SA engine instead and just do a map just as big and varied as SA was and populate it. Poly count doesn't matter to me as gameplay was always number 1 with the gta games for me.

Peaked at GTA2 and 3 IMO. Didn't get the hype surrounding SA or VC. GTA4 was a semi-return to being half decent but they've never reached the bar they set back ten years ago IMO.
