The Great OcUK Rock Music Questionnaire - 29yr olds +

Age: 30

A. Favourite Five Bands

1. The Beatles
2. REM
3. Pink Floyd
4. Queen
5. Oasis

B. Most influential bands of our generation

1. Pink Floyd
2. Oasis
3. Queen
4. REM
5. Fleetwood Mac

C. Most influential bands of all time

1. The Beatles
2. Pink Floyd
3. The Doors
4. David Bowie
5. Deep Purple

Because of my age I'm unable to put The Beatles in to the B section because they were not a band still together when I was born.
Having to stick to bands around since when I first started listening to music also explains number 5 in the B section :)

Woody - I'm surprised you were the first to put Deep Purple. I would put them at #6 on my list. Good call!

To be honest it was a close call between them and the Sex Pistols. :)

Fair enough. I had a close call between Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Neither made the list, though. :)

I was also going to do average age of respondant for each group but seeing as practically nobody in the 14-19yr olds section has done that it might not be feasible.
I noticed that. They went off on their own little tangent pretty quickly there. :p

Kids today eh? ;)

Nice to see some votes for REM. They were a close call for me, but didn't quite make the top 5.

3. Led Zeppelin - showed that you can jump around in genre within the same album.

I was trying to explain led Zeppelin to somebody today at work. We listen to Planet Rock all day and my colleague will put up with it. Today they've played about 5 or 6 Led Zep songs and this afternoon he actually made the comment that Zeppelin play a lot of musical genres. I tried to explain that as a young man we never even noticed them because a Zeppelin song was a Zeppelin song. You could easily listen to folk, then blues and heavy metal and it would all be the same because it was Zeppelin. Any other band diverting from the norm and you would know it but Zep could get away with it. Houses Of The Holy has got so many genres that I can hear now but back in the early 70's they were just Zeppelin tracks.

this is really difficult but:

Good bump, actually. IceBus: what were the results? Or did I miss a different thread?

Sorry guys, ran out of time before heading to uni. I've got them 90% done, but I don't have the info with me atm. I'll get the sorted as soon as I'm back home though, sorry for the delay.
