The GTX 960 Owners Thread

GIGABYTE Announces a Pair of GeForce GTX 960 4GB Graphics Cards.

GIGABYTE rolled out a pair of GeForce GTX 960 graphics cards with 4 GB of onboard memory, the N960WF2OC-4GD (WindForce 2X), and the N960G1 GAMING-4GD (G1.Gaming). The N960WF2OC-4GD features a compact twin-fan WindForce 2X cooling solution, and offers a minor factory-overclock of 1241 MHz core with 1304 MHz GPU Boost (compared to reference speeds of 1216/1279 MHz.) The N960G1 GAMING-4GD, on the other hand, features the company's top of the line WindForce 3X cooling solution, which takes advantage of its meaty heatsink to keep the fans off until a temperature threshold is reached, with the 120W TDP GPU. This card serves up 1266 MHz core, and 1304 MHz GPU Boost. Both cards feature 4 GB of GDDR5 memory, across a 128-bit wide memory bus, clocked at 7.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective).

Do these 4Gb 960s actually come with 4Gb of VRAM?

Would be a kick in the teeth if it is the case for the 970!

I don't think NVidia could gimp them even if they wanted to, with a 128bit bus it will use either 2gb or 4gb.

Having said that a 128bit bus is not anything to boast about so don't expect miracles when the cards are pushing 4gb.

Is this a good choice for Mini-ITX / HTPC?

PC setup:

Gigabyte Z97N Wifi Mini-ITX
Intel core i7 4770K
16GB 2400Mhz DDR3
Thermaltake Core V1 Extreme Mini ITX

Card clocks down as low as 135/202 and is inaudible during desktop use / movie playback.

Can't hear the card over the PSU fan etc during gaming (Even Overclocked).

This is a very quiet card.

Early thoughts.. With the inclusion of Witcher 3 game code, and at around £150 for a GTX 960, these are now good value budget cards. It has performed beyond my expectation so far, temps are excellent and is whisper quiet.

Finally got around to picking mine up from the DPD depot (miles away).

Excellent little card for the money, very impressive thermals and noise and more than enough for 1080p. Will do me for the next 12 months or so I reckon.

Don't forget to post a picture to get on "The Roll of Honour".:)

Here it is fitted

And on "The Roll of Honour".:)

Bought myself an EVGA SSC version recently, the £15 cash back and Witcher 3 deal made the card very reasonable in my eyes. Have yet to use it much but for a card to tide me over until DX12 and Freesync etc gets into full swing I am very happy. I read that you can get another 7 percent or so more fps by oc'ing above the factory OC so will give that a go soon.

All you Titan X owners are missing out!

Don't forget to post a pic so I can put you on the "The Roll of Honour".:)

All you Titan X owners are missing out!

:D:cool:

I'll be joining you guys in the next couple of weeks. The gtx 960 suites my needs perfectly 1x6 pin and a 120 tdp it's almost like it was built for 1080p from the benchmarks and reviews I've looked at.

Don't forget to post a pic for "The Roll of Honour".:)
