The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Had a quick go on Dying Light last night I had kept up to date with all the comments about it being really slow and stressing machines. So at 4k with everything turned up including AA apart from Motion Blur as I hate that it was recording 40fps. Really shocked to be honest. This was just in the HQ at the beginning I need to go outside to test it better but really surprised how smooth it was. Bit of an issue with mouse sensitivity being too sensitivity even when turned down. Noticed it was using 4.38gb Vram that was the highest recorded. Got a feeling this single card solution may be better than my 980SLI at 4k even though 980SLI is faster.

Been playing some GTA 5 and Witcher 3. Stock clock with my G1.

Everything on ULTRA @ 4k including Hairworks - 35 and WITHOUT Hairworks 45. One or two more settings and 60 FPS is doable.

Extremely impressed by the performance of the card and how amazing 4k looks, I didn't realise how good it would be!

And to me 35 FPS is totally playable and fine for gaming. So having everything maxed out and having smooth gameplay is just perfect for 4k.

I may overclock it later on but for now it's fine and I'm very happy.

what is the noise like on stock clocks/fans?

Hmm, that's odd. My cards boost to 1290Mhz at a minimum and stay there. Some games and benchmarks have them at 1303Mhz.

Temps max at 83 degrees as we know on default fan profile. Your temps look rather accurate for the cooler type in SLI I think. Do test it with the front panel on, see what happens then please.

Strange that yours aren't boosting as high. Have you tried the Witcher 3?

Well no doubt the boost is being throttled with the default fan profile. Also don't forget the boost clock isn't set in stone. In fact EVGA list 1190 as their boost clock for the SC. I think mine is decent at 1250, so it seems like you have especially good cards.

I don't really want to try Witcher 3 since I haven't even started it yet but I'll give updates as I play more games.

At 4k? What settings you knocking back may I ask and from what to what?

Do check with afterburner what the Temp limit is set to by default on those cards.

Considering the good temps, I was expecting some higher boosts.
A constant 1250Mhz is still good though.

Any MSI Reference owners

can you confirm if it has a warranty stick on the screws

I've had an email from MSI themselves to say they are ok with removal of the stock cooler as long as it is put back on with no damage to the card when you RMA it

i dont trust that in the slightest they say it but when you come to RMA it all depends on who you get on the day and what mood he is in
