Well the original plan was to go for a GT72 and do a top to bottom tweak of the thing, however individual cards have become available sooner than expected so instead I have decided to modify the current beast.

So the spec will be the following:

17.3" 90% gamut LCD 1080p @ 100hz + 27" ROG Swift 1440p @ 144hz (Just purchased from OCUK to help stretch the GPUs legs a little ;) )
Intel 4930K @ 4.3ghz
16GB (4x4GB) Samsung 30nm @ 2133mhz CL10 CR1
2x GTX980M 8GB Samsung HC03 GDDR5 @ (TBD)
512GB OCZ Vector + 1TB WD black 7200rpm
Bluray reader
Intel 7260AC
2x330W power bricks with power box

I'll be ready to crush some desktops :D

I am completely confused what are you talking about haha

See my top scores for a notebook in the Firestrike benchmark threads? I intend to crush them with a pair of gtx 980m cards. I'm getting the Asus swift monitor so they are not wasted in games.

Will do, hopefully it will make up for not taking the gt72 for a spin. When it became clear the gtx980m was basically plug and play with the machine I could not resist.

I'll do a little tour.

I have my own sources ;) there are places to get cards though 2 things.

Alienware may not work yet (need aw to release cards and therefore vbios)

I can't link as even though it's out of the country the sources would be competitors.

ah thanks mate, I will google around.
Even without the vbios I am sure they will boot, I may just have to muck around with the fan profile manually. I am also contemplating 970m for the reduced heat as 980m sli may be overkill for me

I used all sorts of cards in my last Dell Precision m6600 and all of them worked.

cheers for the heads up. Looks like that was the m18x tested. I wonder if I will have more luck with the newer 18? I also have a 17 I could test, might just need to disable the intel gfx before installing

Well the monitor has arrived, makes my P570WM look like a normal sized machine :D

You have a thermaltake mechanical keyboard, razer taipan on a razer scarab mouse mat. I use an external slot load bluray drive for ease of access on the left there. On the monitor stand is my Recon 3d USB sound card and on the right is the paired wireless omega headset. Just hiding at the back you can see the two 330W power bricks and last but not least my trusty 256MB MSI megastick which I use for my bios flashing.

Quite a mix of brands I have ended up with

Notice I only have 3 cables going into the machine for easy pick up and placement. 1 USBx3 from my Uspeed 4 port hub, the displayport to the monitor and of course the power lead from the power box.

Cards are on their way, should be here on the 17th :)

Also got back my 512GB vector drive from my wife (Gave her an 840 evo instead) to run 2x512GB in raid 0.

Here is a picture of the internals without the GPU heatsinks (obviously)

This is mostly assembled:

If you are reading this ARJIBEAR then this is the type of cooling setup I expect from the GT80. Also I expect this level of power delivery:

The two 330W power bricks going into the power box which load balances the draw from both. Note when properly tweaking the mobile cards consumption of up to 150-180W per card can be had meaning no matter the CPU a single 330W wont hack it.
