The Haunting of Bly Manor | Netflix

Just started watching it, I thought its fantastic so far.
Not a full blown horror, no cheap scares.

great story, keeps you hooked

Loved Hill House and was hoping for similar quality here but sadly let down :( Way too much padding and full of woke political correctness and lesbianism. The scene doesn't make you believe its set in England one bit and everyone has a ropey accent. Oh and it really isn't scary at all. Very disappointing.

Haha, I specifically told my wife a few days ago "I bet someone on OCUK will moan about wokeness", sorry, didn't realise that lesbians didn't exist in the 80s

Thing is me and the Mrs were speculating from the start where they'd shove some lesbianism into the storyline. Just so predictable.

Seriously, I am no homophobe. Its just all a little bit forced and obvious.

If your reaction upon watching a romance on screen is "uh woke political correctness and forced lesbianism" then I'm sorry to break it to you, but you're homophobic. Normal people won't react to these sort of things.

It's every single thing I watch though. That's the jarring thing.

Never used to notice it when it was there because the story needed it.

A. Confirmation bias
B. If it is in "every single thing" you watch, why is it jarring?
C. How was it detrimental to the storyline? It was kinda the WHOLE POINT of her being in England

I can promise you I'm no homophobe and I don't like being accused of being one just because I feel its being forced into media to the detriment of the storyline.

So having a gay couple is a detriment to the story but a straight couple isn't? You're right, you definitely don't sound homophobic

Wow you really are looking for something that isn't there aren't you?

You know exactly what I mean.

It's supposed to be an adaption of turn of the screw. Was there lesbianism in that?
