Wonder if any of you clever folk can advise on what to do in the following situation.

I rencently installed an SSD drive and moved entirely to Win 7 64, used to dual boot with XP.

Now I am having some issues with 7 and wanted to install XP again on an additional SATA drive and use the boot menu during the post to switch between the two.

I quickly found the setup would bluescreen once it was past the initial stage of loading all the files etc. I soon realised that this was because ACHI mode was enabled and the default XP install doesnt support this.

After digging around I found some drivers that I could use at install by pressing F6. Unfortunately, I still get the same result...

Any ideas?

Can you write the numbers down on the blue screen? That will give you an indication of the crash. In my experienece a Bluescreen is nearly always an unstable system.

Thanks for your answer.

I can get the numbers, but I know my system is 100% orthos stable for 8 hours +.

From past experience, when I was using RAID on my old dual boot system, XP would bluescreen at setup if I didn't install the drivers beforehand.

I can also tell you that if I switch the mode for the HDD from AHCI (which it is currently set to due to SSD install) back to IDE the installer runs fine.

Obviously though my install of Win 7 on my SSD will not work if I switch to this mode.
