so lets just agree to disagree, and ill be safe in the knowledge that no cable i have tried has offered any advantage over another. you can laugh all you want about my little cat5 comment there, but ask yourself why hasnt it been done? digital signals over a multi-cored cable. not disimilar to a hdmi lead is it? why arent there snake-oil cat5's? because it isnt AV and people arent fooled by it....

That makes even less sense than paying £60 for one. At least with the £60 cable, you're getting /some/ peace of mind. If you're lucky, you might actually see a.. what? 3% pq increase? Something like that.

By spending £20 on a cable, you aren't getting the 'benefits' of a £60 cable, and you are £15 worse off.

Well, I could do boring technical analysis and get down and dirty with details about voltages, signal patterns, electrical interference, yada yada but I have a feeling the people who apparently see a difference wouldn't care.

Edit: FWIW Monster go on about cross-talk and all that jazz but it's absolutely irrelevant for 99.999% of people.

The day Monster enter the networking cable arena and try to persuade us that their cables will route our traffic better is the day I'll hold my hands up and agree with you.

Until then, you're seeing something which simply doesn't exist. Provided you don't have a faulty cable and have one which is up to the job (just like nobody would run gigabit ethernet over a cable which wasn't cat 5e)

hdmi can be sent over 50meters of cat5. forget the use of boosters ect for a second, and concentrate on cat5/6 being capable of carrying the signal. it makes the question even more relevate - why arent there spruced up cat 5 cables? what does this all tell you?

Still shocks me that people will pay £20+ for 'Xbox Connectivity Cables' or for a cat cable from a high street shop, when they're literally just cat cables.
They pay £20+ for 1-2m cables that are just booted cables.

£20 will get you 20m Cat5, or 15m Cat6 if they knew!

Does anyone know where i can get a booster for my aerial. My freeview picture looks a little soft and fuzzy and could do with sharpening up...
 
IT's okay to have duff digital cables (though I still believe there is a difference, just very minimal and only really noticeable over a tiny distance), but on analogue the quality of cable is very, very important.
