***The High-Res Screenshot Thread!***

Nothing special these days.

I agree its nothing special but then no game really is, there are some very nice looking scenes in this thread from some very good looking games and while Star Citizen can hold its own against them sure it does not look special amongst them.

What is undoubtedly special is what @Paul_cz alluded to.

Those screenshots i posted are on small corner of one small platform, small here being relative, its one of the smaller platforms in a sea of floating platforms in the clouds of a gas giant, some of the larger platforms are so large with so much unique architecture and other assets it would take you literally hours to walk round just one of them and explore it, there are dozens such platforms, in the clouds of a gas giant, beyond that there are many planets, moons and vast space stations in an entire solar system, all the planets have their own cities that are again unique from eachother.

All of that in a single instance, or if you like 'map', nothing else gets to within 1% of its scale.

And it does this with the detail and graphics that is up there with the best of them. That does make it pretty special, Star Citizen also has its faults, but it is extra ordinary in a sea of mediocrity.

Star Citizen.

Thought i would fly across the MicroTech surface to New Babbage from 1,000KM away, took about 2 hours.

More to come :)

@humbug I‘m curious, at any point during the 2hr flight could you have landed, got out and walked around and explored?

Yes, anywhere any time any planet or moon.

Edit: Actually that's not quite right, one planet you can't do that, ArcCorp, because its a city planet, you can land on most skyscraper roof tops but you can't actually walk around at street level, not that it has much of that, if you're on a skyscraper looking down its many levels of buildings and craft moving around, seemingly endless.

Is there any wildlife? Any reason to get out between hub spots? I see a lot of forest and can you mind for minerals or what have you on planets? Or is it an empty vast space thats just auto rendered with low poly stuff?

Its all high poly, without spending any time finding something more comprehensive the surface of MicroTech at ground level looks like this, there are also green areas that look different. https://youtu.be/qi6rwZSq4M0?t=612

No fauna YET, but yes the intention, at least is to have plenty of fauna on the ground, even Space Whales in the clouds of Crusader.

There is no reason, currently to move between outposts on the ground, again yet, the intention is to link them all up with roads and some game-play reasons to drive instead of fly. there are already a lot of ground vehicles.

Sorry, forgot to add, Mining minarals on planet surface is very much a thing, by hand, in a mining ground vehicle and by dedicated mining ship.

Absolutely love this clean futuristic art. I really hope Squadron 42 will come out in my lifetime and actually utilizes all these places for its story campaign.

Its the level of detail and complexity in architecture everywhere you look, and the lighting is gorgeous.

You can tell the result is for the love of it rather than budget and time constraints, take the first image of my last post (post #4,697) just how much is going on with the architecture in that single shot.
