*** The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug ***

It's not out for 6 months - knowing people that work in post-prod, they'll be working on the CG right up to near the release date - anything you see in the first trailer for films like this is half-baked, and I can guarantee if the same shots are in a trailer that comes out in say, September, they'll look way better. Just the way it is with effects-heavy films; studios want the trailers at the same time the post-production work is being done.

The focus of the final film is obviously going to be the events leading up to and surrounding 'The Battle Of Five Armies'

Yeah I didn't think they could make a 2.5 hour film out of that and not rush the woods, meeting the guy before the woods and beating Smaug...

Couple of things;

1. If you are planning to see the film, DO NOT WATCH trailer 2 which shows lots/all of the main plot

2. Jackson has gone too far and made it look like Hugo and Tintin.

Another i cannot wait to see, liked the first one and so far have held off buying it on Blu ray as i want to wait till all 3 are out and hopefully they will have the extended versions like the LOTR trilogy that i have.

The first was ok on it's own but considering it's meant to be a leadup to lord of the rings it's pretty bad, the physics are so comical and exaggerated. I've seen it twice and I never really want to see it again.

^^^Looks good, dont give a toss about reviews but ill be most definitely be going to see this at the cinema. Cant wait, anyone know when the final part of the trilogy will be released?? will it be another yr to wait or will it be out sooner than that.

Pretty sure i read somewhere that the 3rd and final part of the trilogy is out in Feb 2014.

Same here. I liked the first film. Sure it had it's problems, but I thought it was good fun over all.

There and Back Again, will be released on Dec 17th 2014.

Thought the trailer looked excellent.

I enjoyed the first one, though I struggled to follow it tbh due to reading the book about 15 years ago, and not remembering much bout it. I couldn't work out what was supposed to happen, and what they were making up and I got a bit confused! It wasn't perfect, but it was a good film.

I didnt even finish the first Hobbit film, found it really boring :|

Maybe i need to go back and try to watch it again or something?

i wouldnt say its a film you can try and watch

For me i thought it was only half done it. the time flew by so fast!

Anyone know of any cinemas doing midnight showings? I've looked at Vue, Cineworld, Showcase, Odeon and none of them are doing a midnight showings on the Friday.

I saw the first Hobbit film in the cinema, and wasn't impressed (I was ****ed). Second time round at home was a much better viewing experience. Still, it lacked the immersion the original film bought

All the LOTR films are over hyped really, much like Nolan's Batman. After a few viewings you spot the errors etc and the magic is lost. These films need to immerse you into their world. I don't feel that anymore. It's just watching a film now.

Another example is Avatar. When I saw Avatar for the first time I was OMG, now I'm like ah Avatar is on the telly...Zzzz

Avatar is good after a toke or two though..the colours get to me ;) I can't watch it sober though, it's uber boring now. Film4 goes through a stage where they're showing it at least twice a month.
