The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Watched it last night, I wasn’t too keen on seeing it as the first wasn’t all that however I have say I enjoyed this one and I am now looking forward to the next. My one doubt about the film though is does it make the first one pointless? The first film didn’t have anything major in it which wasn’t hinted or mentioned in this film (obviously if they were writing it with the intention of cutting the first they could have further expanded the story elements). The only thing I can really think the first film is good for is that it provides the ‘perfect world’ back drop (for the capital at least) which enhances the growing distaste in Catching fire.

I saw this on Saturday, I've seen the first one which was alright, I haven't read the books.

I thought the first half of the film was great and does a good job of making you really hate the entire regime and feel very sorry for those in the Districts.

I have to admit though that the twist towards the end was a huge let down, it was sort of like "Oh... that was easy", and although I don't know what is coming in the final film, it seems like she has a huge helping hand now.

Got to laugh at Lionsgate share prices dropping just because it didn't meet the ridiculously high expectations. Seems $158mil in the US and $307 worldwide in the first weekend isn't enough for the greedy gits.

I saw this last week (admittedly it was 90% for Jennifer Lawrence in lycra haha!) and was actually pleasantly suprised!

There wasn't as much of the soppiness of the first one, more action and just... better!

I am genuinely looking forward to the third one now

Enjoyed it, recommend seeing it in a good IMAX like the BFI.

You have to go in knowing that it isn't going to be serious adult story, just a fun lightly sci-fi type film aimed at all audiences. On this level it works fine, I wasn't bored throughout and want to see how the story advances. Sure it will be cliched but there's enough to keep your interest.
