The i5-12600 is the star of the 12th gen show - 69 degrees even when clocked at 5ghz

Those coolers are rated for 260-280w. Really good value in my opinion if they perform as well /better than the U12a cooler you've got installed. That extra 40-60w of cooling capability seems to go a long way (compared to the 220w tdp Noctua cooler Techpowerup uses).

I'll probably recommend something like this for a Zen 4 build.

The DEEPCOOL AK620 looks like a pretty solid bit of kit for the money. I wonder if these coolers are shipping with LGA1700 mounts yet?

Looking at the specs, it looks like the number of heatpipes may be the reason for their cooling effectiveness.

The tdp numbers are meaningless honestly, dont pay attention. Other than that yeah, the ak is really good, I would buy it over the u12a but it was released later.

What's the highest performance air cooler money can buy? Just curious how much more expensive they would be than the DEEPCOOL Assassin 3.

Ι don't think highest performance is a thing. It depends on

A) The exact CPU. Some coolers perform better on AMD, some on Intel, and even more specifically, some perform better on Alderlake than Cometlake etcetera.
B) The amount of heat you need to cool. Some coolers perform better (eg. they keep the CPU at lower temps) at lower heatloads than others. For example the u12a is pretty good when the wattage stays at or below 200 watts, but after that it starts losing to the d15.

Generally speaking the more wattage you want to cool the more dual towers win.I think the assassin 3 is probably the best aircooler out there followed closely by d15. You can of course then mod them with better fans, so if money (and noise) is no object, probably the ak620 with phanteks t30 120mm fans (30€ each) or an assassin 3 with the soon to be released T30 140mm fans would be the best.
