The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing - Action RPG Thread

This is a weekend deal on steam at the minute for £5.99.
Im sorely tempted by this but have read pros and cons for the game, how has the support been after launch? I see the devs are updating the game but any sign of them just abandoning the game?

for £6 I'm tempted, it's not like I haven't already got a ton of newish games yet to be played so one more won't do me any harm I suppose :p

I'm guessing it's a large download sadly, probably an overnight one!

I heard way too buggy and simply just not a good enough game at launch, so I didn't bother to purchase.

But at this time, I'm wondering if they allow more characters, and playing that one on a different difficulty for a harder challenge, etc etc

Well i took the plunge and got it after an age deciding whether to or not! Its not finished downloading yet but it is near 20GB lol. Im looking forward to giving it a try though :D

Booted this up, created a character and was hooked from the off.

The combat feels great and the combo system a nice touch. It seems at first your limited with only two attacks but with the buffs that you can apply to them you get some interesting combos.

Runs smooth, nice graphics and the story/quests are decent with some nice humor thrown in. Feels a lot like Titan Quest and more what DIII should have been like.

Need to get this finished in time for .......

Ive had some fun on this last night, thoroughly enjoyed the combat and running around with a mob of enemies picking them off as I kite. Seems to be pretty tricky which is very welcome :D

I've gone for a ranged build with the ghost companion in melee. I put two gun skills on one set and just press TAB to switch to spells.

I plan to make a melee character today to see how that side works. I was quite surprised to find so much hidden depth you have in deciding your build.

I know it will probably get repetitive but that's expected in most ARPG's, just wondering whether that £1.49 DLC is worth grabbing.

Apparently ranged is far superior to melee but im still going to try it after ive finished the game once. Im still getting to grips with the combo side of things but ive not played it for a substantial amount of time.
The questing seems good and the voice acting isnt as bad as some of the reviewers have said either.

What is that small 'meter' on the options screen for ? you have two buttons to lower or raise the needle and I see no mention of what it is for.

How big is the download/install for it? Steams has go it down at 20gb but it seems a bit big!

It is that big. They have separate data files for each quality setting, which is just stupid if you ask me. Just seems like sloppy development.

I bought this during the steam sales, and while not fantastic, it's good for killing some time. I spent about 12 hours on it, completed the story mode once. Doubt I'll play it again any time soon.
