went to the lovely Rubery to see this last night. didnt actually know anything about it beforehand, so imagine my delight when Clive Owen and Denzel Washington star in it!

it's a pretty damn good film, direction credit to Spike Lee; it's wonderfully shot, and very well-written...i'd definitely recommend it to anyone who fancies the cinema but doesnt really know what to see!

it's also yet more confirmation that Denzel Washington is my favourite actor, but brilliant performances all round!

if you've seen this, please try and keep it spoiler-free. thanks :)

The only thing I hated about that film is that Spike Lee can't make a movie without there being a race issue in it. Or the use of the 'n' word.

I saw it a few weeks ago, it was a bit far fetched and played with the viewer a bit with the ridiculous amounts of twists and whatnot, not a bad film though.

Can't wait until Silent Hill comes out :D I loved the (original!) game and the film's looking pretty twisted

well, it was set in New York and heavily involved the NYPD. i was always under the impression that race was a bit of a hot topic with regards to the law and the US. some of the race-based dialogue seemed a bit wooden, but there were some pretty good one liners in it, a lot of the humour was really well-timed imho

i really enjoyed that film, i think going with no expectations and knowing nothing about the story or plot was the best way to see it.
there are a few excellent one liners that got the whole cinema laughing, and the soundtrack was pretty good too (Chaiyya Chaiyya - Bollywood Joint, opening track, absolutely awesome). the direction was great, and the actors really well chosen. well worth a watch :)

my one-liner was the best :D

Watched it tonight; very very good. Really enjoyed it and kept you guessing right to the end. Denzel is just too cool for school.

goldilocks is right..the opening song is wicked!

Deffo recommend you go see it.

I didn't really rate it that much... probably because I guessed the whole "twist" about 30 minutes into the film. If they hadn't have shown him in the opening shot, then I wouldn't have gotten it as easily.

I think any Jonathan Creek watcher would probably get it quicker than others, as it's kind of the same / adapted as one of the mysteries in an episode of the series :).

I saw this a while ago and thought it was really good can't wait till the DVD release :). Denzel really isn't in a bad movie.

I wasn't too impressed with it. It may be that I found the same as Alasdair and it annoyed me quite a bit.
DaveyD, I can't believe I didn't pick up on that - I know exactly what episode you mean!

Saw this about a month ago, and thought it was an "OK" Movie. It definitely gets going towards the end but it's not really the sort of film that grips you from start to finish. It had a fairly low budget air about it (in terms of scenes/locations etc), and I could easily see it being made with a lesser cast.

I felt Jodie Foster was somewhat wasted in her role, she played it quite well but there wasn't much scope for characterisation. For a film which is a good 2hrs in length, I can't help but feel a little more could have been done with certain characters.

quite fun to watch, i didn't get bored - but it was nothing ground breaking.
good if you want a hollywood heist movie, suppose that's the intention and it does it well

Spot on.
I enjoyed it but thought that a lot of what they were doing was quite obvious.

The song which plays at the start of the movie, as well as during the ending credits is an Indian song composed by Indian musician A.R Rahman called "Chaiyya Chaiyya".
