Don't understand why this has only just started happening though. Been on the service for 4-5 months, only the last month or so it has became noticeable.

Virgin's usage and they're terrible at managing their network due to over subscription. Yet, they're supposed to be publishing even high speeds in the near future. Network won't be able to handle it if it already has difficulty handling the current packages and settings.
