The internet has ruined Aliens for me

So I just bought the Alien Quadrilogy box set today and was looking forward to an evening of high-brow xenomorph entertainment. And what do I find? Both times in Aliens when they say "Take off and nuke it from orbit... it's the only way to be sure" I can't help but giggle in the middle of a pivotal moment.

Damn you, internet :(

I have never seen them :(

Is it worth getting? And sounds expensive
£20 special offer in HMV! Not too shabby. It comes with six (count them!) bonus discs as well, and special editions of all four films as well as the theatrical versions. I recommend it very highly.

Alien and Aliens are both excellent, the first is a sci-fi horror thriller and the second is a sci-fi action movie. Alien 3 isn't quite so good but it's still definitely worth a watch. Alien: Resurrection is the fourth and worst one in the series - it's not great, but it's entertaining enough.

Ahh thats a ok price for 4 films :)

Might have to pick it up.
Ok price? *splutter*

Bloody excellent is what it is, especially considering the calibre of the films on offer. Never has there been a better sci-fi action flick than Aliens!

It probably wont be my cup of tea, but for the money I wont complain.

Godfather trillogy for the money is a bargain aswell.

That one was brilliant, simply the Alien mother giving birth to some Alien/Human hybrid with the temperament of a schizophrenic cat, which then proceeds to punch its biological mothers face off, lick its human mothers' face, mash some poor blokes head and eat another's all in the space of about ten minutes had me in stitches, especially with the cooing noises it made. I haven't found anything remotely as funny this year - brilliance :p :D

These films are not meant to be funny at all though are they?

aliens is quite easily one of the best action films AND one of the best sci-fi films, EVER.

don't let anyone tell you any different.

In a way, it was what brought me to the internet when my cousin had his clan for Aliens versus Predator (AvP) on mplayer but that's another story for another time and another place.

The Quadrilogy turns Alien 3 from a mind-rape of gargantuan proportions into a bloody good film.

*n
You mean the special edition version that comes with the box set? Or do you just mean compared to Alien: Resurrection?

I considered starting to watch Alien 3 at about 3am last night, but I decided it would be a good idea to go to bed instead.

I'm sure he means the work print that comes as the 2nd edition, the one with the plot edited back into it. There's some major changes and, if you can get past the short bits of unfinished audio and CG, it's a really good film.

I must be the only person who prefers Res to 3, I bought the Quadrilogy recently despite having the previous box set just because it was such a good price and you get the special eds with it

yeah. No3 in the quadrilogy is a great film, much better than what was originally released. I just love how it cuts to the extra scenes and you can hear all the background noice because of the poor recordings tho :p

Same here, i'd been looking at it for ages but couldn't justify £40+ on it, then when I saw it for £18 I jumped at it :)

I think all 4 films benefitted from the Directors Cut versions (Alien for example has a very breif scene of the start of a hive/nest IIRC), but Aliens 3 benefitted the most, which probably isn't suprising as it had about 30 minutes edited back in:eek:
