Or so says Prince: :p

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/7874307/Prince-the-internets-completely-over.html

Talking to The Mirror, Prince said: “The internet is completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”

He went on to say: “The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated.

Prince also criticised the advent of gadgets and computers: “All these computers and digital gadgets are no good.

"They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you.”

:D

Lol, he can stick his music where he likes, good luck to him.

Long live the internet, the internet is dead. :D

I would link to a blog post written by a indie record label head who agrees with what Prince says but it's full of swearies.

In short:
- Prince put out this sound-bite to gain free publicity for his new album, but it's backed up with reasonable logic.
- The Internet is a terrible way to advertise music if you're an established artist. Lots of effort, almost zero return.
- Prince will make more money through giving his album away with newspapers than he would by putting it on Spotify, YouTube, etc.
- iTunes takes as big a cut as bricks and mortar stores despite imposing far stricter rules on the artists and giving back less in promotion.
