Moved the discussion from the pre-season thread just to keep things clean. Utd fans can use this thread to vent their frustrations at having Mourinho as their manager and opposition fans can use it to laugh. Once the season kicks off, please remember not to post spoilers in here - BaZ

Mourinho calling most of the squad cowards, not happy.

Martial/Valencia etc being thrown under the bus for being on holiday too long and being lazy.

Utd really should just get rid of José right now. He’s not happy, he’s causing a toxic atmosphere, he’s at loggerheads with the board, he’s throwing his own players under the bus. Nothing will improve while he’s there. Utd could get rid of him and get Zidane. That would be a great buzz for Utd for the new season.

I know we all have a laugh at Mourinho but he's getting worse and worse as the years go on and it's not hard to see why he's struggling more and more to get the best out of players. The quote below is something Klopp is supposed to have said to the Liverpool squad when he took over in 2015:

When you win, it's down to you and when you lose, it's down to me.

With Mourinho it's exactly the opposite of that.

edit: Christ! A line from Mourinho's presser when asked about Sanchez looking unhappy:

Look, do you want him to be very happy with the players he has around him?

A penny for the thoughts of the 'kids' in the Utd side today.

As I said above, I can't see him lasting long, he's fallen out with Woodward too by the sound of it.

In honesty it's hard to have much sympathy, it's not like we've tightened the purse strings and refused to sign the players he wanted, given the spending, he's getting very little out of the squad. Over the past year or so the football has been dire to watch, even if it proved somewhat effective at times.

It's got to the point where I expect our games to be boring and they usually are, it's quite sad. :( Even if we win, it's nothing to get excited about.

Part of the fun of being a fan is looking forward to your next game. It just sounds like no Utd fan does atm. City and Liverpool look forward to their games. Poch has got spurs going like nothing before. Arsenal have got a new lease of life under Emery. Utd just have nothing to look forward to.

Yet only one of those managed to finish above us. Arsenal haven't even played a flipping game yet, bit early to say they have a new lease of life rofl.

Well I’d certainly look forward to watching Arsenal more than the dross you’re putting out atm, and they have a new regime after 22 years. Stands to reason fans would be a tad excited, certainly more than Utd fans must be lol

You would rather finish 6th than 2nd? Wow.

Or are you actually saying an Arsenal side that hasn't played a single competitive match is better than Utd? Either way, this must be your first pre season.

You're so desperate to defend Utd that your posts are painful to read Shami and I genuinely don't mean that in a ****take or snidey way. He didn't say he'd rather finish 6th than 2nd, he didn't even say Arsenal were better than Man Utd. He said he'd rather watch Arsenal than Man Utd.

Yes, Utd finished 2nd, above Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal but given what he's spent and the squad he has, Mourinho should be finishing in the top 2 positions and if it is only 2nd, he should be a hell of a lot closer to City and given the football that City are playing and even sides finishing a few points below Utd, on smaller budgets, he should be doing so playing far more entertaining football too. Finishing 2nd, a mile behind the side you're meant to be challenging, all while playing drab football is not an achievement no matter how much Mourinho tells you it is.

Mourinho is in the same boat as Pulis and Allardyce - supporters don't want them managing their side but they tolerate them for a period, while they're getting results. After a while it becomes tiresome though and it's even worse when they're not achieving what the supporters hope and expect. Whilst results are hugely important, football is meant to be fun - it shouldn't be about meeting minimum requirements through boring football, all while telling supporters they're lucky to be in this situation.

It's no secret that I can't stand Mourinho and it's not just because I woke up and decided that I don't like him. Prior to even Fergie retiring I'd always said that Utd wouldn't appoint Mourinho because of everything we're seeing now. He has proven himself to be, without doubt, an exceptional manager in terms of getting short term results however it comes at a price. Without wanting to be overly dramatic, Mourinho is a cancer that destroys clubs. Mourinho only cares about himself and everything he says and does is for the benefit of Mourinho, not Utd - he will throw anybody and everybody under the bus to defend himself from criticism. The man spent 15(?) minutes throwing the entire football club and it's history under the bus to defend himself from criticism after being beat by Sevilla!

Is there any Utd fans that is genuinely looking forward to the coming season with any real optimism? Just like Stoke, WBA, West Ham & Everton (under Pulis & Allardyce) shouldn't go into a season believing the best they can hope for is 17th place, playing terrible football, Utd supporters shouldn't be going into this season believing 2nd, playing drab football is the best they can hope for too and I get the feeling that is the best Utd supporters are hoping for right now.

This is the mourinho every normal headed football fan knew Utd were getting a miserable toxic manager.

Don't get me wrong I love the fact we just spanked em cause well its man Utd :D

Utd sqaud forgetting our game isn't that dire, you have some great youth prospects that could play far better under any one else but mourinho.

He as baz said is throwing every one under the bus, implying again tonight he isn't getting players he wants. He does this at every club when his time is slowing coming to an end.

The best thing Utd could do is just get rid of him before the season started

Mourinho is just a massive ****. He won’t be here after this season as he’ll not win a thing, and we’ll likely struggle for the top 4.

So I’m just looking forward to 2019/20 already. Already writing this season off because of that toxic *****

Why are people so obtuse and defensive of anything deemed less than positive about their club.

Yes people want to finish as high as possible and win things, means **** all if you can’t enjoy the journey there.

Amen, I would be very surprised if he sees out the season. Mourinho meltdown season oncoming, enjoyable for everyone apart from the fans of the club he goes about methodically destroying.

Have to say I agree with Baz on his points about about Utd and Mourinho.

I don’t see how you came to the conclusion that Arsenal are a better side than Utd with what robfosters said Shami. Arsenal fans are looking forward to this season due to a new manager being in charge for the first time in 20 yrs. That’s what I took from his post earlier. Personally I don’t think we will be challenging for the title this season, if we do find ourselves in the mix then brilliant. But me and I think other arsenal fans are just wanting us to improve over the past 2 seasons where we didn’t get top 4.

Also remember this is pre season, a chance where managers can see who has improved and who hasn’t. But Mourinho seems to use it as an excuse to snipe at the club and the players. I wouldn’t take any of the results seriously in all honesty.

I'm just disappointed as it's looking likely to be a dire season in terms of the overall watching experience. Not because of pre-season results, but because nothing has really moved on, and Mourinho hasn't got a shred of positivity in him. I think we'll be in Europa League places at best as other clubs have stepped up.
Only positive thing I can see this season is that the toxic **** will hopefully leave and hopefully Martial will still be around to flourish under a new manager next season.

Can't really disagree with any of the above posts. I wanted Mourinho as our manager and thought he might change but it's just more of the same, but without winning anything significant.

It's not so much about the friendly result, they aren't really that important, but everything else. He just seems ridiculously miserable and has spent most of the pre-season insulting our players for no real reason.

Every single match feels like a chore, at some points I've stopped caring whether we win or not, and just want to see some good football; no chance of that though. It is entertainment after all, right?

Considering Moyes only signed one player (initially) and spent comparatively little, you'd have to say Mourinho is making a much bigger mess of things. That's something I never expected to say.

Barring a dramatic turnaround in all departments, I think it's time for him to go.

I don't think its quite as doom and gloom as some of you but Mourinho isn't a manager who should or will be at United long term. Unless you are winning things at United you have to play good football. If we win the CL or PL then I could handle a bit of negative football but coming 2nd or 4th makes no difference to me. Your base goals at any top club are:

1. Get into the CL each season
2. Play entertaining football
3. Progress your squad

If you win something thats great but those are the things you have to achieve to keep fans happy. At the moment we are getting into the CL and thats about it. He is making the squad better but simply by buying better players. He isn't really developing any of the current crop and he is alienating what should be some of our best players.

He bemoans players not performing yet he doesn't create an environment when they can flourish. Hes the sort of manager who looks at a player like Mbappe and thinks "why haven't United signed him, why haven't we got players like him".
without realising that Monaco produce world class talent so often because they support their young players and allow them to fail without being punished or dropped.

LvG was such a failure because he wanted almost 0 flair from his players 99% of the time and for those players to then produce moments of magic to win games.

Martial is going to leave United and go somewhere else where I am almost certain he will be amazing. Like Shaw he has been given almost 0 opportunities and when he has played well he has been dropped again for unknown reasons for weeks on end in favour of inferior players who apparently aren't subject to Mourinhos criticisms.

I don't know who we should get in as a manager but Mourinho simply isn't going to grow United or provide any sort of stable future for the club. I can't see him bringing us any success this season either.

Martial will absolutely be world class at his next club. Mourinho has **** on his from a great height on numerous occasions as he has done with many of our top players, blaming their performances instead of admitting his failings as a manager

I get so angry talking about Mourinho :D hate everything about the guy

Typically Maureen teams have a meltdown in his third season, I'm looking forward to how bad this can get.

The fans who line his pockets don't deserve to listen to him chunter on deflecting blame to his players for the results of decisions. Toxic 'leader' and antithesis of what a modern manager should be in any business. A revolting man.
