The labour Leader thread...

Dan Jarvis looks good, at least he's not tainted by the Blair/Brown era. I'm sure we'll find out more about his politics as time goes by. Dunno what the British Muslim community (traditionally Labour voters) will think about a former British soldier whose undoubtedly killed Muslims though.

Andy Burnham would be OK in my book, but needs to find a way to defeat the Tory Lie Machine which is already making noises about privatisation of the NHS starting under him, and the gullible are starting to believe it.

Can't be Yvette Cooper, David Lammy, Liz Kendall or Chukka Umuna for me. A popular outsider I reckon would be Simon Danczuk.

I don't mind Chukka tbh...Hes media savvy and is on the ball all the time I have seen him on question time.

Someone not associated with Blair and Brown. My politics are further left than the government I actually want as my politics are more of an ideal which humans never live up to. That's why I'm worried about the Tories having a slim majority as the further right of the party could hold Cameron to ransom. At least the LibDems kept them in check.

...Which even if he was, is not SAS.

Yeah Not special Air service...But

The Special Forces Support Group or SFSG is a special operations unit of the British Armed Forces. The SFSG is the newest addition to the United Kingdom Special Forces. It was formed officially on 3 April 2006 to support the Special Air Service, the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and the Special Boat Service on operations.

He was a Company Commander.

Yeah the Labour Party need to shake of this New Labour past and become something new and fresh...

If the party is going to move to the left so as not to be the Tories, but a little less Tory (which clearly doesn't work for them) then it needs to come with someone who is able to engage with the media and open up discussion about the claims coming out of Cameron and Osborne's mouths, instead of just letting stuff slip by.

If the opposition constantly has to debate accepting the Tory version of the truth then they are never going to win.

And can the Wikipedia military experts please let it drop?

I'd like to see Chuka Umunna or Tristram Hunt as leader.

I reckon the voters will play it safe and select Andy Burnham though.
