The Lack of VRAM thread

Its cruel to have one lonely GPU in the Case, shame on you, get it a play mate. :D
I will mate, but not sure wether to look for a secondhand 780 rev 1 or buy a brand new rev 2. They will sli ok. But not sure if a ghz 780 wf will sli with a standard 780 wf?

I'm not entirely sure but as far as i know Nvidia GPU's often don't pair between different brands / revisions, i could be wrong and i hope someone more knowledgeable puts me right if i am.

Its been a while for me in the Nvidia camp, unfortunately.

nowadays sli with different brands works fine. As long as theyre both from the same generation, ie 780 and another 780. They boost individually in sli.

6870 (1gb) XF - Battlefield 3 - 1680x1050 - ultra/maxed out settings - flying a jet over a big map would cause it to grind to a halt for a second or so

You can sli any card that is like for like and run at different clock speeds. You just have to be careful with oldder gen cards like different 560TI's.

Hey guys I already have a 780ti that plays everything on my 1080p monitor is it worth popping in another and sli?
I mean 550 on a 2nd card will it change anything really?

That thread is stupid and just a certain poster (with a lot of posts) pretty much shouting over everyone else and his brand preference. It is a shame you can't report threads and only posts as I hope someone doesn't go and buy a cheaper card with less vram and run into limits just because said poster says so.

FWIW I have a GTX 690 I believe the most expensive card available except for the Mars 2 etc, and it hits the VRAM limit on both of the games I play, hell it sits at 2GB vram when I am standing in a bush... unfortunatly one game is BF4 which was rushed and not optimised thanks to EA's greed, and the other is an Alpha. Both of this is at 1080p and on BF4 it does it with all the settings on Low...i5 at 5ghz so it is definetly a card issue.

Me too mate, hence i bought a gtx 780:D But, bit dissapointed because its in my case its by itself. It needs another one to keep it company.:D

I know that feeling! Very tempted to get another 780 for my system too but I think it's worth just waiting to see what Maxwell brings now.

I'm a GFX whore :(
How old is this game? it looks pretty darn good by any standard.

Since l got my SLI 4GB 670'S and a 2560x1440 res monitor, just love all the extra detail and how sharp things are.

Just put a new lease of live in to my gaming lol, just got a new 1000W Gold rated PSU as a Xmas Box.

Hoping to upgrade next year as my i7 930 is still good but a 4770k or X79 plus mobo would get the best out of my SLI 670's.

But if The Boss thinks l been a good boy when l come to upgrade, l might just get a new 780 TI then another later.

As l can pass the 930 SLI 670's x58 on to one of my sons.:D
