The last F1 car that looked good?

Loved the early 90's cars, they look like what to me an F1 car should look like, probably because its the era i grew up with. Today's, they just look like a mishmash of random aero parts.
Points go to the JPS lotus's livery but beyond that the cars were nothing short of ugly.

My choice beyond a few already posted would be

Edit, another one - the Honda RA300, bit of a whale but imo looks good :)

While not the last GP car to look good, this does have to go down as one of the prettier ones over the years IMO. The Ferrari 312:

Pity for Ferrari that it started out overweight and never really managed to challenge the DFV runners once that engine came along in numbers. Though the failure of it did lead to the 312B in 1970, which has one of my favourite exhaust notes ever :D

Oh, and an even earlier car that I could look at all day - Maserati 250F:

*slurp*

I'm rather glad there's a general dislike of the high-nose, mad aero look in modern F1.

As for my F1 porn, I go for a Lotus 49, one of Jackie Stewart's early Tyrrell's or almost anything from the late 80's. I'm not terribly original. :D

Early 90s F1 cars were just so pretty.

I've always liked the Brabham BMW BT52. I like the way its like a dart. The engine seems to be really far back.

I have a soft spot for any Toleman car. My old man ran the pub that Toleman used as their local. I'd like to think that the great man himself was dragged there by some of the team (some of which are really quite well known these days). I have a very old memory of the designer of this car passed out at the bar with paper serviettes notted into his hair :)

... and one of the most beautiful, the Ferrari 641/2.

MASSIVE PICTURE[img]
I must admit that is a beaut, probably why I think 2009 cars are hard to beat. Certainly has a look of it in the wing proportions

PS 2008 cars = Ugly as sin

Biggest problem here is that people always look back at whats gone before and say how beautiful things were. "The good old days" :D

I think most of the current cars look 'good' (as the title says).

Though the 'tribal' patterning on the Virgin Racing car & gear looks completely amateur!

Any car that featured in GPL ;) Seriously liked that look, though I've been following the sport for a long while and each era in its own right has a stand out design...

Maybe. I still don't see all that many people say that the '08 cars are the most beautiful we've ever seen....nor do I think most folks will ever really look back and say 'my God, weren't those multi-winged monstrosities gorgeous?'....And at some point 2008 will end up as being well in the past, as far in the past as some of the cars we drool over now.

When all is said and done, I honestly think the narrow-track-grooved-tyre era (1998-2008, didn't end soon enough IMO) will go down as the era that produced the least attractive GP cars. There were the odd high-points, but on the whole I'm glad that things have changed.

And once again, since I know that with this forum I should really attach it to every post as a disclaimer - THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION. Not stating it as fact. I really shouldn't have to say that, but apparently some of you are so irretrievably dumb that you can't even remember to breathe in and out. Hey ho.
