The last game you purchased on DVD which had to be played from DVD?

I honestly can't remember, maybe GTA4? I haven't bothered putting an optical drive in my current or previous couple of builds though.

Last game I bought on DVD would have been Quake 4 2005, never had to have it in the drive after it got patched though.

You obviosuly know what a DVD is
Perhaps not if he is under 15 although looking at his dates thats very unlikly. In some places everythings Bluray and Netflix style steaming. In my home there no one buys or looks at DVD's anymore. Its all Netflix's, Steam and Prime.

Trackmania Sunrise. That needed the disc in the drive as I recall due to Starforce protection. Also maybe Far Cry.

Neither needed to be played from the disc, just needed the disc in the drive.

For games that played from the disc, maybe Magic Carpet, although there was a workaround to this if you had the hard drive space.

Call of Duty - World at war.

Since then,All have been digital downloads or Blu-ray games (PS4).

Although to be honest, even though digital download is convenient,I do like to have a card copy + case of the game,I still have a DVD drive in the PC.

I think... XIII (the cell-shaded-style shooter).
You know big-box games used to be re-released in a DVD case, often with a largely white label? Often by the tills in PC World? One of them impulse buys.

Borderlands was the last genuine DVD game I bought & played, although I did pick up a cheap copy of Borderlands 2 but just used the code for Steam to install & play.
