Did anyone else watch this the other night? For some reason i had the impression it was a bit of a classic/epic so my housemates and i settled down to watch it.

What a load of drivel! I was seriously dissapointed! I dont know if ch4 (i think that's what it was on) had cut a lot of it but half the time the shots didnt even line up together (continuity-wise) and in general i had no idea what was going on, nor did i care!

For me, it definately rates up there with Platoon as a film that i had the impression of greatness, but was horribly lacking. :(

Had anyone seen it, but watched it the other night? Was it cut by ch4? Some of it was terrible and didnt make any sense, especially the canoe chase and when the French guy offered the English to surrender and go back to England. It stopped before he made his decision, lol.

How dare you! Platoon's ****ing awesome! :D

I knew someone would have to take the bait. ;)

Watching some army men cry in a jungle where it's so dark you can hardly see anything does not make a good movie. No thank you. The only upside is that John C. McGinley is in it.

Now.. LOTM; did anyone watch it? :p

I can only presume the movie was cut to ribbons by Channel 4.

...

Plus mugwa the Indian scout was a great character. Oh yeah and in the versions I saw, I'm positive you got to see the English decision to surrender when offered by the French.

IIRC the English guy took a step forward and then it cut wihtout saying anything  It looked really odd.

Only seen it a couple of times, but I think it's an amazing movie. Something for everybody. Lots of well staged battles & gore for the boys, and a nice bit of romance for the girls. Awesome scenery & a very moving soundtrack.

That was another odd thing. They showed the girls' father get his heart cut out (well, they showed the Indian hold it up) -- but besides that there was no gore at all. Just people hitting other people with swords and then falling over :\

I guess if i ever happen across the DVD it may be worth giving it another go.
