Give the demo a shot, once you get used to it the battle style is very enjoyable :) Read a guide or two, it'll clear a lot up as there is no tutorial. Runs very nicely on my machine too, [email protected], 4870, 2GB, 60+ fps constantly. Almost completely maxed @1920x1200, other than the shadow slider at around half.

Eagerly awaiting my copy :)

awesome, 1 good review is enough for me :)

I had my preordered copy delivered yesterday and it requires Steam to install. After entering the Steam registration code it says that the game is not released yet and cannot be installed.

The North American retail release is on the 24th of March so I'm very confused by the release date shown on the Steam website.

I certainly don't fancy waiting until the 9th of April to play it.

Edit: The game has finally unlocked!

Really is odd how the retail DVD version still requires Steam when it should have just been a seperate product, especially with the Games For Windows label on it. Very misleading and would definately confuse a lot of people. Square-Enix really screwed that up, but at least it all works now.

I'm about 4 hours in, and it's not bad. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting Final Fantasy quality, but from a personal point of view most JRPGs aren't (yes, I'm an FF fan, so any of my comments should be taken with that in mind). If you don't like JPRGs, this is unlikely to change your mind.

The main problem is oddly one of the game's selling points - the large scale battles. It easily gets confusing as to what the hell is actually going off, though at times it can look visually impressive. You also feel a bit detached from most of the characters, as they're generally just extra goons that you hire to fill up your expanding party.

There seems plenty in the way of usual cutscenes/story/etc, but it seems a bit lightweight, and not really fleshed out enough.

Still, if like me you haven't had a JPRG or FF type game to get stuck into for a while, then it's worth a look (and it is nice to be able to play something like this in a proper res on a PC).

Had a few more hours playing this now and it definitely gets better further in, from both a story point of view and getting to grips with the game mechanics.

Square really should learn how to release a representative demo ;)

Sorry for the bump. But saves making a new one for the exact same topic.

Anyone else got this for the PC? What do people think? I have read a few reviews, but I prefer to hear about what non journalists think lol

It's pants in pretty much all departments. The script and voice acting suck. The design is dull and a bit "WTF". The combat is convoluted and I couldn't care less about the story. At least the battles aren't random. The cities aren't even cities, just little sections. I haven't finished it but I'm glad I have a little sister who loves this sort of stuff. I'm still hoping for a Skies of Arcadia remake or sequel, a proper JRPG imo
