The (leaked) Just Cause 3 system requirements are here

Rips it apart at multi-threaded stuff though. If they're recommending an i7 for the top end it would suggest a highly threaded game and therefore a processor that runs better at higher threaded applications make sense?

I'm not trying to be an AMD fanboy here (ditched my 8320 for an i7 a few months ago :p) but the move to more threads in games has been coming for a while and AMD have always said it'll give them a decent boost as we're seeing with DX12.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: min/recommended specs are made up by whoever's doing the marketing spiel at the time. Occasionally devs may chime in on specific requirements, but it's largely "What's a mid-spec PC? What's a high-spec PC?". Hence why the FX-8350 is under "recommended" - not because it's as good as a 3770, it's just AMD's high-tier CPU and they don't want to alienate AMD users.

So they are basically saying 3GHz+ quad core as a minimum and more than 4 cores at similar speeds recommended.

Would it be worth swapping my 3570k for a 3770k? Probably not...although the 3 games from this year that I want to try at some point are all recommending i7's; Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and now JC3

Whenever it takes a high end card just from the last series of cards that would suggest to me they've not optimised it very well. It's pretty poor unless the PC version does look a lot better off the bat in return for the high recommended specs but something tells me it's just not going to be making the most of the power of each card to be honest.

Still they are good games but just seems a bit dissapointing that you'd have to pay for a card that costs more than a console, was released after a console and probably still won't get you half of the better graphical options or amazing fps. It's an easy trick though, they can simply recommend higher cards and it'll look like a demanding game regardless of if it's just poorly optimised or not.

I really wouldn't read too much into these specs until the game is launched and people have a chance to try it. I certainly wouldn't be thinking of buying upgrades based off these specs yet.

As I pointed out earlier, the specs are only slightly above those quoted for Mad Max (by the same studio/developers) and that ran beautifully for most people - ran over 60FPS consistently for me with 2 x 290s at 5760x1080 with everything maxed from memory. It could be that they have quoted specs to never drop below 60FPS at 1440p where other studios quote specs to hit averages of 30FPS at 1080p on their launched games, we just don't know.

My advice would be to wait until the game launches on 1st December before getting worried about how it performs. I'm hopeful that the game will run just as well as Just Cause 2 and Mad Max have. :)
