The leaner me - my weight loss program

Read through this and I truely think you have done yourself proud!

Good effort, keep it up.. the last few lb's may seem to drag on but just remember when you get there your FINALLY there and can relish in the fact you've frown yourself into it and done it.

Finished!!! :)

Well its taken slightly over 6 months, but i have lost 3 stone & 1lbs or 43lbs.

Starting weight was 17stone 8lbs and i am not 14 stone 7lbs.

My original plan was to see was to get to below 15 stone and then look at building lean mass. I have looked in the mirror and although i am looking a lot leaner, i still feel i am carring a little too much body fat, so i am going to try to lose another 8lbs and re-evaluate.

Really happy with my progress and can't wait to start with some heavy weights, and putting on some lean mass.

The weight loss become a very reliable 2lbs p/week for the last 8 weeks. I had thought that the last weeks would be the toughest, but actully the opposite occured, and i really think i have the eating/nutritional plan nailed.

Very Pleased!

Good work mate :)
Did you take any before and after pics?
Keep up the good work. If you want to go for a lean body, depending on your height/build you may want to aim for around 13-13.5 stone.

Very poor diet, too many carbs and not enough natural fats. Just because you're losing weight doesn't make it a healthy diet. The dietry fat paranoia even from the so called diet and exercise experts on this forum really is becoming tiresome.

It's totally impossible to be healthy on a low fat diet, we need fat and lots of it, and most of it should come from saturated animal sources. Dietry fat does not create body fat, excess carbs and sugars do.

I don't think anyone here actually advocates removing fat and almost all people mention about dietary fat and good fats. Or am i missing something here?

The op'r is eating a virtually fat free diet that you are all approving of, without quoting anyone else directly he is being told lean food is the way he should be eating with lots of fruit, also someone is recommending soya milk:confused:, soya is full of phytates which are totally counter-productive to good health.

Fruit is probably the last food you should eat when on a weight loss program due to the blood sugar/insulin response. The general consensus around here is that saturated fats are bad and should be avoided, I see this written in numerous posts constantly, I'm sorry if i'm getting on my high horse here but i'm sick of reading this rubbish, low fat diets, high in fruits and grains such as the one being advocated here offer incomplete nutrition and are simply unhealthy.

Op'r, I'm glad you're shaping up on this diet but in the long term reduce carbs/sugars and increase natural saturated fats, you'll find it much easier to lose weight and keep it off this way as well as building a far more robust immune system.

I don't think its as bad as your making out. It served its purpose, and with a slight tweaking, adding some red meats, eggs and wholemeal bread, i think it is has the foundations of a great eating plan.

"Bran flakes, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, brown rice, tuna , prawns, chicken,
fresh veg, red meat, wholemeal bread, eggs, nuts supplemented with fish oil & flaxseed oil. Doesn't sound that terrible.

Can you link me to other threads / posts where low fat/high fruit is being advised for a diet? I really don't think that I see it often at all.

Avoidance of saturated fat is posted as a dietry recommendation on here reguarly. A well respected member just the other day posted a list of dietry recommendations which included "good fats (polyunsaturated monounsaturated)", this makes it plainly obvious to me that he is recommending avoidance of dietry saturated fat, I see similar on here reguarly.

I try not to give too much dietary advice myself, as I'm completely the wrong person to give it, so might be a case that I don't see it as much as you.
Best thing to do is mention in those threads where you see it :)

Nobody knows everything in this game, we rely on information from others in the most part :)

Totally agree on the fact nobody knows it all, we're all learning everyday.:)

It's just this subject of dietry fat is one that really stirs me up because I firmly believe saturated fats in their natural unadulterated form are massively health giving, yet they are still constantly maligned and avoided in peoples diets despite the ever growing evidence that they were never a health hazard in the first place.

I'll try and get some links up that explain my point.

Thanks for your patience Morba and sorry if I went off one a bit.:)
