The little things people dont know - Upgrade pitfalls

It lives!
The old beast powered up fine although resolution is off and it all looks zoomed in so maybe a driver update?
All in all. The relief is very much massive.
Excitement is building....

It's working fine.
So in the end I just switched the cards and then put it all back together and powered up. Worked fine and the main hassle with the whole thing was getting the sodding screws back in to attach the card to the case!
Resolution was lower when it came on but that was just changed in options. I downloaded the Geforce experience which tells me my driver is the one before the latest but I wil update just for freshness....
It's been emotional. I'm off to try Witcher again.....

Last night I ended up playing games until I couldn't stay awake any longer. The Witcher is now playing on ultra settings (I can even put the hair effect on but I ended up preferring it off) and is very smooth. Before I was playing on low to medium settings and it was still pretty jerky especially in the big cities. I tried few other games - Dirt Rally and Battlefield 3, Crysis, Tomb Raider and they all run very well on max settings.

I had a few "windows failed to start" prblems when restarting the machine yesterday but today it seems to have sorted itself out.

I'm a happy customer!
