This guy was my woodwork teacher at school. He never touched me (that I can remember, my memory is shot) but a friend of mine assures me that the other kids said he was a paedo at the time, but nobody ever took any notice. I do remember some of the teachers being very touchy feely back then.
I am pleased to see justice finally done, but saddened that it has taken so long, with a complaint about him ignored by the police until another ex pupil came forward.

We had a teacher who was sent to prison after looking at child porn on his computer. The sad thing was his daughter went to school with us at the time it happened. It must have been really tough on her to find out her Dad was a pervert. We also had another teacher that everyone thought was a pervert but it was just a school rumour. Even the other teachers knew about it but no one did anything about it.

We had a teacher who got in trouble for having indecent images on his home computer, as I recall.

He also got in trouble for throwing a book at a 6th form girl. She was a div, but I guess that doesn't excuse it.

Would hate to be a teacher, so much judgement from the kids, for the rest of peoples lives they are like, 'remember mr or miss etc'. Would drive me mad.

My school (decent private school, not exactly Eton or anything though) had a total of 4 teachers that were either paedos or had relationships with students. Basically an epidemic.

1 certified jailed paedophile, child porn found on PC.
1 constantly flirted with student who was actually 'seeing' the teachers son (who was a student at the school) at the same time. Also shared a hot tub with female students on school trip.
1 who pulled a student on a night out which cause his divorce from his wife who was a part time teacher at the same school (scandalicious)
1 who had a student in his hotel overnight on a school trip
1 who had a same sex relationship with an underage student.

Oh, that's 5. Might send my kids somewhere else...

It seems like every school had a nonce teacher/staff member back in the day:

gotta wonder how many other teachers/headmasters acted like the staff at the BBC and turned a blind eye to the rumours/allegations

Our maths teacher would regularly throw the board rubber at kids, it was just accepted at the time.

At my school we had a reasonable selection of bad teachers but I don't remember any paedo like ones when I was there ...

I do remember that ....
- One of the drama teachers was ******* one of the female history teachers (quite a few years his junior) and possibly her flat mate (one of the home ec teachers) at the same time.
- One of the boys in my year asked out the same history teacher (in front of the class) ... she, of course, said no.
- Everyone thought one of the other teachers was gay ... he wasn't.
- One of the maths teacher was a right psycho who frequently threw chalk and even wooden board rubbers at people.
- one of the metal work teachers was known to throw things at people and give them a clip round the ear.

This was in the late 80s. ~20 years later the school was put in special measures and had a lot of staff let go (including the head and both deputies) as its exam results went through the floor.

We had a German teacher who had a knackered hockey stick that he kept in his room. If you dozed off or weren't paying attention he'd smack your desk with it.

We had a fairly attractive young lady maths teacher who inexplicably wore a short skirt and no knickers on school photo day and everything was abundantly visible on the resulting pictures when they were distributed a few weeks later. They were all recalled, but not before the entire school had seen them. The photo company reissued them after some airbrushing but it was still readily apparent that something was awry. She left soon after.
