I've been playing through this on and off for a week or 2 now,and I must say it's a really enjoyable adventure game, the story is great and keeps you interested, also some of the characters are funny as hell and the voice acting is mostly top drawer,I particuarly liked Flipper, the mad hover chair bound hacker, obscene language from him at times but it adds to the adult nature of the game, deffo not a game for kids.

Currently on chapter 7 trying to work out a puzzle involving 4 crystals and some rotating discs,it's doing me 'ead in so I'm taking a break! :D

Just wondering what other peoples thoughts on the game are, also does the sequel,Dreamfall live up to The Longest Journey?I've read several conflicting reviews.

My girlfriend convinced me to buy her Dreamfall, the sequel, she says it's absolutely fantastic.

She recently got The Longest Journey but she's having problems running it under XP, the crashes are making it hard for her to progress.

Ive played and completed dreamfall. I loved the game i got really hooked on it.

The graphics are very good as well it thought.

Yeah,I've had a couple of crashes too,but nothing to spoil the flow of the game particuarly.I got through one particuarly persistent crash(at the police station) by enabling W buffer in the game settings.

To find the setting you have to go into the game directory and find the icon named 'game' double click and you'll be presented with a menu that gives the option to 'enable W buffer' and 'force single buffer',enabling one or other of these got me past the point of the crash,I then saved and disabled them again.

Not exactly sure how these settings affect the graphics,I didn't notice any particular drop in image quality,so if your GF is having regular crashes,it might be worth her playing the game with whichever of these settings works for her, enabled constantly.

There is also a patch available, choose the one from this list that matches your version of the game.

By the way don't let your missis have all the fun, just 'cos the lead character is female doesn't mean blokes can't play and enjoy TLJ too. It's a great yarn that most people would enjoy I reckon, and makes a refreshing change from nazi or alien bashing or being told 'you have my ear citizen' 2000 times in one Oblivion session.:)

I really enjoyed Dreamfall, so I'd like to play the first one. A lot of stuff in Dreamfall was a bit confusing because I didn't know what happened in it. The problem I had with dreamfall is that by the end you feel cheated because it leaves so much unexplained and half finished.

Third game in the works.

Did any of the fixes I suggested work?

A reinstall and it seems to be fine so far.

Her version is the old 4 disc one so there's one fix, no "patches" as such.

Yeah, mines the 4 disc version too,I suppose if the problems persist you could always try compatibilty mode, 95 and 98 were the operating systems the game was originally written for.

ive been trying to find the original for my g/f for months and months but cant find it anywhere!

If you're having trouble with persistent crashes try reducing sound acceleration to basic or none in dxdiag. Worked for me in several games!

I'd never even heard of this game but it looks fantastic. Is Dreamfall like a 3rd person thing where you can go anywhere like oblivion or a point n click adventure?

It's basically a point and click, but it has a 3rd person chase camera.
