Was on C5 just now, did anybody watch it?

Seemed like an hour long rant about steroids didn't it! Used Valentino as a "steroids are evil" figure - directly attributed his biceps to steroids without mentioning synthol... then connected steroid use with drug dealing, gangs and being in jail.

Had some 160lb bodybuilder kid who deciding he'll go on steroids eventually, when he's 17 with no muscle mass. At least he did deadlifts though!

Then some steroid "guru" who took GHB apparantly without realising it; more "steroids r bad!"

Bet half the people who watched that are gonna think "steroids" and look down at the next bodybuilder they see.

All programs relating to steroids are crap. Simple as that.

They like to give the general public the conception that all bodybuilders are bad and pumped up on steroids.

There is another program somewhere on Youtube I believe that just includes some prats who know nothing of what they're doing and give bodybuilders an even more negative name.

Valentino was an idiot, but it's not to say everyone is.

They busted out the somewhat hard to believe stat that 20% of ALL gym users had at sometime used steroids.

That's 1 in 5 people... including women. So you can walk into a gym and see 10 people who are/were on steroids... :D

apparently weights gyms in south wales are full of users, this will no doubt bump that stat up quite a lot.
tbh, it wouldnt surprise me if this stat for south wales was true!

I used Beclomethasone, an inhaled steroid, when I had bronchitis - does that put me in the 20%?
Yes. Saying 20% of users have used steroids is a wide bracket, they didn't specifically say it was performance enhancing though. They do it so it sounds more shocking, when in actual fact a lot of people have probably used steroids in one form or another without knowing.

Most programs on steroids are usually rubbish. Just another load of media BS from people who have no clue what their on about and people giving their unwanted opinions when they have never used. And giving an example of a right muppet who injected his arms full of synthol (although he was once a very good bodybuilder and had a brilliant shape until he messed it all up).

There is a good documentry on yotube somewhere about steroids, and it states the facts about steroids and when used correctly are not as dangerous as a lot of muppets think. It had a person who had ben researching on this subject for years and he was asking very good questions and bascially found out that in all the years since the russian powerlifters started using steroids back in the 40-50's that there are only a couple of reported incidents of death being directly linked to steroids. It basically said if used properly they are safe.

Dont bother with thrse crap documentries if your ewver wondering about them, go over on MT and do some research, you will find the proper truth about them then.

so very very true!
its a shame that the tv companies feel that to show steriods on tv they need to show the negative side of idiotic use, rather than proper factual information.
i bet they would argue that doing a proper documentary would make more people want to take steriods.

Would they? Are the risks really not as bad as the media would have you believe?

The stories the get into the papers are the ones where people take juice without any proper research, take doses fare in excess of what they should be, and take it without the correct precautions.

yes, i can garentee that many people who read the steriod sections on MT will feel a little tempted after seeing the gains, and of course, after reading the mountain of information that is on there.

risks as bad?
yes the risks are as bad as they would have you believe, if you were to be stupid. No more than being stupid when taking paracetamol though tbh.
