US: The Mandalorian

They are playing it a bit safe as it's clearly quite low budget and the first live action SW series. But it's still really good and you don't need a lot of money to make a good show.
This is so wrong its almost comical.
The show is at worst one of the top 10 most expensive ever made. In reality its likely up their with Game of Thrones/The Crown budget at $15m an episode.

Indeed.

"The Mandalorian," the first live-action "Star Wars" TV series launching on Disney Plus on November 12, had a hefty price tag.

The series cost "around $100 million" to produce, Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the Vanity Fair Summit on Tuesday. At eight episodes, that makes each episode's budget around $12.5 million. The Hollywood Reporter reported last week that the series cost $15 million an episode.

But it's still less expensive than the Disney Plus Marvel shows that are in development. "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," "WandaVision," and "Hawkeye" each cost $25 million an episode, according to THR. Variety had previously reported that the shows would be six to eight episodes long, so each series could cost between $150 million and $200 million.

Practical is generally more expensive than CG, hence why everything is CG where possible these days unless the director wants otherwise. There is also a lot of CG in this and a musical score that runs throughout.

It's not quite as clear cut to compare them either, many of the assets used in GOT will be able to be re-used from previous seasons, they'll be having to build everything from scratch for SW this year. Likewise the actors used in GoT were relatively unknown at the start, as were the directors, the sets also look full but many of those are extras.

I understand what you are saying but at the end of GOT the actors were very well known and were in such numbers that they would have started commanding bigger pay cheques negating the benefits of them being with the show from the beginning. There is about 5 main characters per episode in The Mandalorian and most are unknown so I would have thought that pay would be significantly lower than GOT. Ah well I am enjoying the show anyway so hope to see more.

Epsisode 6...that voice...the IT crowd!

This was 43 minutes long, a more reasonable length.

Really enjoyed this episode, had lots of droids.

I like droids. :)

Great episode, but why are they giving him such a conscious? He's a bounty hunter!

He started the season bad ass, but as we are progressing he is getting more Disney! The bad guys all tried to kill him, yet he locked them up? Meh, easy cop out.

Might well be explained later on, he only kills if he needs to it seems. Might have had enough of killing as according to that episode he's been doing it a long time.

He’ll be breaking out into a song and dance routine next. I agree.

Didn’t really enjoy this episode. I prefer the scenic episodes featuring new lands, rather than an empty ‘max security prison ship’. I had to scream “don’t touch baby yoda!” At one point. What has Disney done to me :o

Richard Ayoade as the droid was a little immersion breaking for me.

I had the same with Bill Burr as soon as I seen him, it eased off after a few minutes, thought the episode was fairly funny, probably why they got a few comedians in!

Baby Yoda is likely a clone that the Empire has been working on for some time to raise and train force sensitive kids to side with them using inhibitor chips as noted various times throughout the movies and other shows.

Show came out of nowhere for me and thought it would be a gimmick but after episode 1 was hooked and it's easily one of my quickest binged and most enjoyed shows of the year so far. Still 2 episodes left!

Got the film booked at cinema on the 19th too :D

I'm really enjoying this series, would quite like a baby yoda toy that's not for pre-order though dammit!

Lots of stuff on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=baby yoda

Also here are some desktop wallpapers from the end credits
