The Mass Effect (PC) Discussion Thread

I'm personally really enjoying it. Haven't had this much fun playing a RPG since KOTR2 (another bioware game :P). There are certain things that feel like they've been ported straight from a console, but overall the entire experience is great. Controls and graphics are both good and the storyline is great.

Only found out that it was the first part of a Trilogy today as well, so it's nice to know that there's more to come :)

Price match the Jersey place with the purple shirt place and get it cheaper. That's my plan. Worked with Conan. :D

lol technically it's my plan ;) heheh but yeah, jersey or rainforest place (as long as its not marketplace) we pricematch both if in stock and delivery+cost is still cheaper :)

@ FnG Magnolia, yes it does work, I work there, and was the one who told Khimbar, we pricematch + additional 10% of the difference (thats with delivery included) several online shops :)

Actually bioware was involved with kotor 2 up to a point.
Bioware provided the engine and technical support for it, that's all. Obsidian did everything else when it came to developing the game because Bioware were busy developing Jade Empire at the time.

Glad it worked for you, is the performance still Ok with AA enabled?
Aye performance is still fine with 4xAA and it looks incredible. :)

Still a good one though. ;)

From Bioware :

" Mass Effect uses SecuROM and requires an online activation for the first time that you play it. Each copy of Mass Effect comes with a CD Key which is used for this activation and for registration here at the BioWare Community. Mass Effect does not require the DVD to be in the drive in order to play, it is only for installation. "

That's brilliant. Its gone from being one of the worst most draconian copy-right protection measures to one of the best balanced. Don't mind activation and that fact that you don't need the DVD to play is even better. I'm going to get this now.

I played the 360 version to death and would have purchased it if it had Games for windows live achievements - but according to a thread on biowares site, they ripped the achievements at the last second - same with the activation every 10 days thing.

Wonder if that game to film maker guy will convert this into a crap film. Hope if they do a film they have the sence to get spielberg to do it.

I would have bought this first on the PC if I had known about it before I went and got the 360 version.

Think I'll just wait until the price lowers and I'll buy it then for the PC.

I hate the way companies do this. They should at least hint at the possibility of a PC version instead of keeping it secret until everyone buys the console version.

They moan about PC game sales being low, but of course they will if they keep treating the market like this. It just adds to the demise of PC gaming, developers will only ever build games for ****** consoles now.
