1st one doesn't need a reboot, however i wouldnt say no to an alterntive 2nd and 3rd film, so they can try that again.

but yes would much rather new content, failing anything else, there's so many good books that could be turned into films.

Will Keanu Reeves play Neo again? Seeing that he hasnt pyhsically aged since the 90s.....

He's said he'd only do another if the Wachowski's write and direct. That's not a good idea, not least because most of the Wachowski's films suck. The Matrix was their lightning in a bottle. We've already seen Spielberg and Ford, Greengrass and Damon return and add to Indiana Jones and Jason Bourne franchises that turned out to be pretty mediocre 4th entries, so the Wachowski's and Reeves doing the same with The Matrix would likely go the same way.

Warner are apparently looking at the guy who's playing Black Panther, or they might offer it to Will Smith, again....

Funny I was just thinking today they missed a trick not doing a spin off with The Merovingian - loads of potential with the backstory and Neo's "predecessors" there.

Honestly though I have my doubts as to how much of the original movie was down to the Wachowski's - their work since is more like that of a student to the master than the work of the master - lacking in many of the hidden depths and intricacies that the original movie had - you don't just suddenly lose those subtle but purposeful philosophical insights, etc. that are littered throughout the original movie if you know they are there.

To me their stuff screams of those bands who spend 6/7 years creating an amazing first album and then find they dont have another in them. I think they put a lot into the Matrix and they just don't have it in them to create another masterpiece like that.

I get what you mean - but you don't "unhave" an epiphany so to speak and that is basically what happens with all their movies since.

The first film is one of my favorites. The second one was really poor with its special effects and has really aged poorly. The least said about the 3rd the better.

They may as well do a 4th as they can't spoil it anymore in my eyes.

I don't think it's the worst remake idea. The first was groundbreaking but the sequels were poor. The world building was defitinely interesting but very poorly executed. If a remake can do it better then why not. Remakes are happening in full force and this is on the better side of terrible idea.
